Very grateful for EA/DICE putting the beta out as its saved me money. No longer a blind pre-order or even a game I am looking to buy anytime soon.

I can wait for the player reviews to come in to see if its really worth buying. Not impressed with the gameplay or gfx its obvious the E3 showcase was literally the finest moment in the game it looked epic but I doubt the rest of the game will come close otherwise they would have included that in the Beta!!!!

EA must be behind schedule with the QA no other logical reason this close to release to put out a sub-standard beta :rolleyes: its virtual commercial suicide EA would have been better not releasing anything & banking all the extra pre-orders I can guess like everyone else plenty of people will cancel their pre-orders based on the beta & wait & see if the finished product is much better/worth buying.

Doesnt have to vote with anything by trying a free beta does he? He's probably played it anyway so meh.

So you'll hold off buying it but buy it eventually anyway without pre-order incentives? :p

I think completely the opposite. Both the gameplay and the graphics are impressive. The more I play the beta the more I can see what an good game it will likely to be.

Saying that the game will be crap just because other content has not been included is totally bizarre. Why on earth would they do that?

There are certainly a few glitches to recify, but on the whole, the game works well. I have encountered very few issues myself, bar a bit of land glitches (which has been now rectified) and a couple of amusing death animations. Hardly anything to cancel an order for.

I'm totally serious! Lighting, foliage, characters, guns, all seem off, and sound isnt as good either. Playing mostly high, couple Ultra, 2xMSAA, HBAO off (GTX 570, 1920x1080 ~55-90fps). Water looks OK but nothing compared to BC2 (plus bullets dont seem to affect water and environment generally isnt as destructive). The foliage is terrible as are the character gfx, cant yet see why people have been saying BF3 looks so good (other than the game trailers that were released which do look fantastic). Maybe it is just cos its BETA gfx, I'll be buying the full game anyway to give it a chance cos Metro is no way to judge it so I'm hopeful for a much more polished release.

Knife animation is just terrible and has no bite to it and the knife doesnt even go in! Hopefully just BETA coding that will be polished by release. I like BC2 knifing tbh (when it works).

I'm sorry to be so negative, I really want this game to be awesome, just cant see it yet. Once the BETA came out for BC2 I couldnt put it down and didnt go back to COD4 or BF2 that I had been playing a lot at the time, but I cant see Metro having the same effect :( Want a BC2/BF2 cross to be honest and not feeling either :confused: I did quite like the town section of Metro but felt like i'd loaded up COD.

I will only buy if player reviews I trust give me enough info to ensure its worth my money otherwise I can just ignore it forever. Pre-order incentives mean nothing to me whatsoever they are virtually worthless anyway. AFAIC All content should be included @ launch for the same price. MS/Sony encouraged publishers to bleed gamers wallets dry with this generation of console as soon as they found people willing to pay for content (sometimes even included on the actual disc :()

If any 2011 PC game is really worth buying then gamers will always buy it. Sad truth is fewer & fewer PC games are worth your hard earned money more than ever PC games are being dumbed down to fit the consoles & the sacrifice is to how much time/money they CBA to spend on the PC build (which IMO is less than they did even 2 years ago!).

EA/DICE dropped the ball here they should have released the tank battle stage demo from @ E3 only & no-one could have said much other than this is amazing etc etc
