****The Official Samsung Galaxy S II Thread***

People really should be more careful with their things. Fair enough, if you're doing something that makes you prone to dropping it, get a tough case.

why? thats what insurance is for? I hate phone cases, its annoying that people like to cover up the sleek design that Samsung have spent millions on producing, with a £4 piece of silicon.

I don't like cases, I've always argued against them here and yeah I probably look a bit silly right now (I've just been to Fulham and seen QPR lose 6-0 so the phone drop on the way is nothing in comparism). I don't really think a case would have helped much in this case, it landed right on the corner very hard unfortunately.

And it still looks better than an SGS2 in a case. ;)

I agree, but if you're doing something that means you're more likely to drop it, you should use a case on those occasions. Surely that's better than claiming on your insurance over and over again!

I just use a leather slip case with whatever phone I'm using, that way its protected at least some of the time and you don't have it all covered up when using it.

I'm not so sure! :p

But surely most damage occurs while in use, making your proposal just a nuisance.

Most of it probably does, yes. It's unlikely you would just drop your phone for no reason though, so if you think you might, it may be an idea to use a tough case (like at a football match).

The pouch also protects it in your pocket, and most phones have an issue with fluff getting in the speaker for example, things like that.

What is the sound like on this, i've heard they're a bit quiet so im tempted to wait the next 2-3 months to see what se come out this, hopefully the duo.

Also can you root the wifi 5.0 galaxy s, as i have one coming soon, and heard voodoo sound is the app to go for once rooted.

Would agree on the case thing, even though there ugly, I just tend to drop my SGS a lot and so far Ive broken 3 cases and 0 phones :D. Although the worst drop I had was without a case on my phone were i dropped it from 6 feet smashed right on the screen and bounced up around another 4 feet into the street. Some how it survived with a cut on the rim, thought I had killed my phone for sure with that.

hmm, that was odd, picked up my phone and the back near the camera was literally too hot to touch.. it was on charge with the camera app left open, wonder if cyanogen know about this!

Through speaker or headphones? Speaker is the loudest I've tested. Headphones no problem here and I listen to podcasts on my motorbike.

With the extended battery I'm less fussed about using a case purely because the phone feels awesome with it now, I use the bumper case though just out of safety and will un-use it once the bumper wears down a bit :p

Anyone on CM7 having issues downloading apps from the market? Super Stickman Golf, FPSE and others say they're incompatible with my device, even though I know they aren't.

GS2 speaker is loud enough! I can comfortably put the volume up and have a few people gather round to watch a video recorded with the camera or Youtube or whatever.
