AMD Bulldozer Finally!

if it's true then it seems like theres a £60 jump i.e 4100 £95 to a 6100 £155 = £60 jump, so a 6100 £155 to a 8100 should be £215 which = £60 jump

we'll wait and see

I'm sitting in on a press briefing for AMD Bulldozer right now, and while everything is embargoed, I will say this: If you're building a gaming PC, this is going to be the way to go.

Edit 1 We're gonna be covering the normal stuff (Benchmarks, etc.) but we're also going to talk about value proposition against Intel as well as some of the exciting new advancements that Bulldozer brings to the table. On October 12th, 12:01am CST.

Edit 2 "We" means Icrontic. I'm not trying to shill my site or anything; we do have a Bulldozer on the testbench, we sat in on a press briefing tonight, and we will have a launch-day piece about it. Of course, you'll also find reviews and other awesome content at [H], AnandTech, TechReport, and so on. Please consider us in your content rotation, we're a small but very, very dedicated team who have been doing this since 2000. Thanks!

If that's the case then I'll probably grab the 2600k.

Wouldn't be the best move by AMD. Especially seeing as AM3+ will be a dead platform & 1155 will live on a bit longer.

According to recent rumours AM3+ isnt that dead with Vishera being slated for it, so probably just as much life as 1155.
Unless the stuff available for AM3+ is a total flop then it may as well be.

Firefox is warning me about dodgy secure connections on Reddit today, so I suspect the site may have been compromised. That or it's just malfunctioning. Could you tell me what site he is pimping?

From your link above.

So I think its Icrontic.com? As thats the only link in the post you linked. Cant see any new or much BD info there though.

The best gaming CPU right now (considering cost as well), is the 2500K.
What that comment seems to say is that perhaps BD is better than the 2500K.

What will be interesting is how the BD overclocks. Remember the 2500K overclocks like a beast and the IPC on the 2500K is fantastic.

I've never ran a CPU at stock and I don't intend to start now. :D

I was completely writing BD off, but now after reading that comment, I'll certainly be looking to see what BD can offer.

AM3+ platform will be around a lot longer than people may of thought. Piledriver will be on socket AM3+

The key phrase I think is 'going to'. If you are anticipating future games being capable of utilising more than 4 threads then it would fall into the being the way to go.

I'm still thinking I will hold off on an upgrade for a while yet. Perhaps wait untill I can get an 8 core for less than £150. So I might be waiting some time.

Thanks. Apparently I can't read - missed the Icrontic bit :)

Interested in seeing as many reviews and numbers from smaller sites as possible, since some of them tend to go into way more detail than the more well known ones.

My guess now is that the NDA lifts on the 12th and the CPUs will be available for general sale worldwide on the 13th.

Do us a favour m8y and alter the quote will you, it makes me look like im sat in a meeting hearing early info when infact I'm as clueless as the next chap. :)

I don't know why some people are so worried about life span of AM3+ boards,we all know any socket board is replaced sooner or later,I just go with the flow, not like motherboards are expensive(unless you want to pay a bomb).

Hopefully next week we will have some nice official benchmarks.
