****The Official Samsung Galaxy S II Thread***

Right I have it rooted, time to load on Villain :)

Making a backup first from CWM.

I guess the warning triangle is normal on bootup?

I'd recommend flashing the KI3 modem aswell LiE, VillainROM doesn't touch modems as peoples experiences with each modem are different. Most people seem happy with KI3 from what I've saw so far though :).

So here's what I did earlier.

Followed this guide (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1103399&highlight=titanium+backup) and used the file CF-Root-SGS2_XW_CLK_KF3-v4.0-CWM4 to root my phone. This went fine.

I then decided on Villain ROM so flashed that using CWM.

What I've found is that when I open Titanium backup it says it couldn't get root privileges and please verify that the ROM is rooted and includes BusyBox. It's my understanding that the rooting process I did installed BusyBox, but I can't tell.

What I don't quite understand is that originally I rooted the phone based on my stock kernel (2.6.35.7-I9100XWKF3-CL276555), but after loading the Villain ROM the kernel is now 2.6.35.11-ninphetamine-2.0.5+ninpo@titan #20. Does the fact the kernel has changed effect the root that was done previous?

If I buy a second hand sgs2 what is required for warranty purposes? Does it work like apple with serial numbers or do I need proof of purchase?

Thanks

As far as I know with any phone, not just Samsung, you can take it to a CPW store who are official repairers for almost everyone. I don't remember if they want a receipt, but where a model is less than 2 years old, like the sgs2, they will accept it for repairs.

I've had 2 repaired in recent years.

I was a bit bored with my Modaco Gr3 ROM so decided to try out LeoMar and so far so good. I also found how to install some themes and have a pretty nice battery percentage indicator now that goes well with the slightly modified Gingerbread theme.

Can I cancel the software update? I downloaded it from the 'about phone' in settings and it's due to update itself shortly, but I'm worried it's going to wipe stuff. Is it? There's no cancel button. I'm currently on stock gingerbread. So I guess it would update to 2.3.4 android and whatever the latest gingerbread is?

Over the air updates do not wipe anything.

Another quick question before i stump up for one....

What is the difference between 16gb & 32gb, is the 32 a 16 with a 16gb sd card or something?

I have been offered a brand new unlock black 16gb for £280

Thanking you :)

Are there any downside to the 16gb? if i add a 16gb sd card will the storage act the same?

sorry for the question but i've been on ios for about 4 years :)

Bung any media on the card and any player program should automatically look on it.

32GB cards are £30 delivered atm so get one of those if possible.

Having installed LeoMar75 ROM, it seems that Theft Aware app won't install. Checked on another phone and the servers are all working for the download, but all I get is no internet connection found. Any similar problems expirienced?
