Well just had my 1st bash on caspian and its battlefield as remember it. Fights in the air on the ground and even in the toilet. Faith restored, for all the stick dice are getting they sure are listening to people

Sorry, havent been following the thread much, but how do you play on caspian?

Another issue that i have noticed was when rebinding keys i can only do one, after that i have to leave the menu. I had hoped they might patch in some other keybinding options as well.

CB is so epic, i was always going to get it anyway but CB really makes you wish you had it right now!.

I really do think this whole beta has been a complete mess though, they waited until loads of people had raged and some had even cancelled orders, many fans were not happy and they even came out with comments saying that CB will not be available, and then they go and open the servers! It just reeks of incompetence.Plus they didn't release a statement about squad management for a few days for whatever reason. They have managed it very badly, but they only have themselves to blame after the way they marketed it tbh.

for those saying its a lagfest its the servers ok bros :p

some are better than others some dont lag some do so try them out.

i just played on the caspian boarder map

- LOTS of fun

- awesome landscape

- my 5850 was around 38fps (ultra, no aa)

- it didnt really lag

overall very impressed :)

Game sure needs a sniper limit per team, the amount of times i just spawn to be shot from inside a bush somewhere is gettin ott.

Definitely, but that will all be sorted i'm sure.

Anyone else think that there are too few tickets on CB? Game seems to be over quite quickly(or maybe time is flying as i'm enjoying it so much)

I'm guessing the beta was pushed out both to do some testing and to appease the kind of people who believe they are owed something by DICE.

I'm also guessing that with the Publisher forcing a release date before COD and in plenty of time for Xmas there just weren't enough hours in the day to finish the game whilst also releasing a polished beta. I reckon that they've been slogging their guts out trying to make the game right for a possibly unrealistic release date that cant be changed. A few years ago, and under other publishers, the game may have been delayed a month or two to guarantee a quality product. These days though, it seems the money men won't let that happen.

I really don't understand the people who belive they are owed something from games companies though. These people just don't have a clue what's involved in a major project like this.

For developers, listening to people throwing hissy fits over every little thing that isn't exactly how THEY want it to be must be pretty soul-destroying.

Thank Christ, there are people that understand!

Never played a bf game yet, is this only really aimed at multiplayer? If so ill give it a miss. Besides seems to be a graphics hog!

Well, if that was aimed at me(don't think it was) i was referring very specifically to the way the PR has been handled, i was not at all referring to anything about the technical side, i understand that this is not a finished build. In particular i find it bizzare that when their fans are completely spamming the forums complaining and asking about squad managemnt, that there was not an almost instant reply reassuring them, but rather days of silence before it was confirmed, and other instances like that such as telling everyone that CB would not be returning in the beta less than 24 hours before they open loads of servers.
And of course the way that the beta was marketed in the first place, as more of a demo.

I'm on a Q6600 @ 2.8GHz with a 5850 1GB, 4GB ram. Metro was fine, but Caspian brings my pc to its knees. I use 1680x1050 Res. I have tried Low, Med, High and Ultra settings and the difference between High and Low, in FPS terms is negligible if any.

FPS ranges from 20 to 40 typically, which "feels" pretty low in this game. It's not really very playable when compared with the perfromance I get in BC2. FPS in the areas where you want it to be high, around the centre of the map, drop quite considerably, especially during firefights.

I may as well play at high because the difference in FPS between that and low is almost nothing. As such, I have come to the rather disappointing realisation that the Q6600 just cant hack BF3. Those kind of results suggest that the CPU cant keep up.

Not really complaining though as Ive been meaning to upgrade anyway, just not quite so soon.........

I have [email protected] and it seems to be fine even at 1920x1080p res.

You need to overclock you Q6600 more. The other problem is the vram issue with caspian border.

I also have 1GB 5850, but usually run out of vram at that res. This results me in getting 20 something fps and even dip to 7 fps lol.

Disable some settings such as AA and shadow to low and see if that makes any difference.

Edit: Did you install amd catalyst 11.10, which is designed for bf3 beta?

Anyone doing a lot of flying on Caspian? After a while my graphics get corrupted. Loads of triangles pointing towards the ground from where I am aiming. 560Ti on the beta drivers. Seen the same thing on Metro in the alpha.

Absolutely not aimed at you mate, there are others on here though....

I understand your point completely, I'm frustrated too, but I suppose I'm just trying to stick up for them. I just don't think they've had enough time to address all of the techncial issues and then the PR on top.

I'm thinking along the lines of an engineer who does large projects which I suppose could be analagous to this. Once you get close to a deadline (which may be an unrealistic one) and are under pressure from stakeholders then the technical, final delivery stuff takes over and all the other stuff (i.e PR) takes a back burner and can suffer accordingly. It's also not just a case of bringing more people in to spread the work as there will inevitably be budget considerations. Also the technical people involved in a job (who will now be flogging their guts out doing tech stuff) are always the best people to use in PR as they know everything about the project, but they just won't have the time.

Unfortunately, the nature of the beast is that for a hyped, AAA game like this, with electronic media on the scale we have today, every little flaw is now visible.

Then it's magnified a million times by countless immature whingers (e.g. Raven).

At the end of the day it's £30 and they don't have to buy it if they don't want to. The whingers should direct their efforts to something more productive like politics. Actually, maybe they shouldn't......
