I have [email protected] and it seems to be fine even at 1920x1080p res.

You need to overclock you Q6600 more. The other problem is the vram issue with caspian border.

I also have 1GB 5850, but usually run out of vram at that res. This results me in getting 20 something fps and even dip to 7 fps lol.

Disable some settings such as AA and shadow to low and see if that makes any difference.

Edit: Did you install amd catalyst 11.10, which is designed for bf3 beta?

I do have 11.10, and sadly my Q6600, whilst a G0 revision, refuses to overclock any further. Even at low the performance is pretty poor. I was hoping to get similar feel to BC2, but just can't seem to get it.

Also, I can only change my gfx settings once in game. The 2nd time it kicks me out and i have to rejoin another server!

Anyone doing a lot of flying on Caspian? After a while my graphics get corrupted. Loads of triangles pointing towards the ground from where I am aiming. 560Ti on the beta drivers. Seen the same thing on Metro in the alpha.

Happens on my GTX 260 too

Guys after having played both caspian border and crysis1, what do you think about the graphics?

For me personally both games have excellent graphics and can't really say which one has better overall. However imo crysis graphics still seem more realistic while bf3 graphics seem too bright in some places and glittery

Just played CB on multiplay server, ran fantastically well with hardly no lag. Really happy with my upgrade from a 4890 to a 6950, runs the game on high like smooth butter. After playing metro I was slightly disappointed with BF3 but after playing CB with 64 players and squad that worked together it has restored my faith in BF3, reminded me a lot like BF2. :D

Few cb shots i took, quite impressed with how my system handles it.

I was considering switching to a single gtx 580, (then add another later down the line). Decided id be better with what i have and wait for new cards.

Uploaded two screenshots of the detached MSI Afterburner graphs below. There's a red arrow where the framerate dropped to 2fps in game but the graph only shows it went to 30fps?

I couldn't see an option for GPU2 memory usage but as you can see the memory usage stays pretty constant all the way through, even when the stuttering starts so it can't be a VRAM issue causing the stuttering. However GPU2 Usage drops when the stuttering starts so maybe that's the problem, maybe the Beta isn't using crossfire properly? I've read others who have disabled crossfire and don't get the stuttering so maybe were onto something here.... I'm gonna do some more testing by lowering the graphics details and see if the stuttering appears. Will report back soon :)

setter you are still in the business with your setup :p

70fps is still very impressive for this map. your screenshots definitely show that caspian border can easily eatup more than 1GB (1024MB) vram

How come your MSI Afterburner recognises two lots of VRAM? I have crossfire 5850s but it only sees one of the 5850s VRAM. Also what settings are you playing it at?

Ive seen metro hit just over 1200mb at times too, the only thing that ever pushed the cards higher was some benchmark i ran a while back, though forget the name of it.

Must be something to do with amd cards id hazard. Im running on high, 2x msaa, 16xaf, motion blur on, ambient occlusion off.

Pic of settings.

I'm on a Q6600 @ 2.8GHz with a 5850 1GB, 4GB ram. Metro was fine, but Caspian brings my pc to its knees. I use 1680x1050 Res. I have tried Low, Med, High and Ultra settings and the difference between High and Low, in FPS terms is negligible if any.

FPS ranges from 20 to 40 typically, which "feels" pretty low in this game. It's not really very playable when compared with the perfromance I get in BC2. FPS in the areas where you want it to be high, around the centre of the map, drop quite considerably, especially during firefights.

I may as well play at high because the difference in FPS between that and low is almost nothing. As such, I have come to the rather disappointing realisation that the Q6600 just cant hack BF3. Those kind of results suggest that the CPU cant keep up.

Not really complaining though as Ive been meaning to upgrade anyway, just not quite so soon.........

Im on a [email protected], 4GB ram and a 5870 1GB and i can manage CB on all high settings@1920x1200. Typical framerate is between 30-40.

I think I'm done with this game, I've played all PC Battlefield games from the beginning but it's more BC3 than BF3.

Going to cancel my pre-order tomorrow ...

What a ****** pity, not been this disappointed in a game since the Warhammer mmo
