Nah thats in 2.3.5 kona, he updated to 2.3.4.

Glad you got it done Merlin, shame about the troubles! I must have gotten lucky as Kies has always worked flawlessly for me.
 
Well, there's no glow I can see, and when I scroll the menu and it hits the very top menu 'wireless and network' or hits the very bottom 'about phone' it bounces back momentarily like it's recoiling off a wall, if that's what you mean?

How about these facts and are the reasons why it is probably one of the best if not the best mobile on the market at the minute regardless of it just being based on android:

- superb SAMOLED+ 4.3" screen
- xxxx load of RAM and internal storage
- the tweaked touchwiz is great since the entire mobile is extremely smooth and you can loads of media files easily
- great battery life
- super thin and light
- superb camera/1080P recording

etc.

Are those things not good enough?

Yeah thanks, was fun doing it, apart from the scary bits :D
So what benefits am I meant to gain from this? Better battery?
So far, I noticed different images in the music player instead of those flowers, bolder text in text messages and the swype word suggestions are now in a row below the message box.

I dont really know tbh! I haven't noticed any better battery life, things seem exactly the same apart from the things you mentioned.

I'll just assume things are running slightly better, as that's what firmware upgrades are meant to do imo!

Argh I just dropped mine getting it out of the car, broken screen glass and the case is pretty battered. I was just deciding on which case to get for it as well :(

Guess its going to be an insurance job.

Just clicked on "check updates" in settings on my stock sgs2 and it's just downloaded and installed 2.3.5 :)

Got that glow thing instead of bounce now

That's pretty good.

I got the phone for £100 on a 12 month contract @ £30/month. Works out £460 for 12 months which is good considering the phone sells for £400.
 
Can anyone reply to this please, asked earlier in the thread and ignored:

My contract runs out in Januray so am looking to change phone. Currently have an iPhone 4 and before that a 3gs, but I've always wanted to try Android. Seeing as the 4s doesn't excite me, now is a good time to try I think.

How well has the SGS2 held its value?

For those of you who have owned both iPhone and Android (unbiased views only please) how do you find androids app store?

What is the the music player and the phone like in general to the iPhone?

Is there software similar to iTunes available for seamless integration with your music library?

Has there been a successor to the SGS2 announced that perhaps I should wait for?
