Japanese Grand Prix 2011, Suzuka Circuit - Race 15/19

Hopefully Massa makes it stick to Hamilton into turn 1, if not then Alonso will :)

Red Bull looked pretty strong on high fuel runs

People not going out in Q3

But they did didn't they? I was still half asleep.

Nope you are right. So why then would they even put them higher up than Kob in the provisional Table.
But then it also says Kob hasn't set a time. I'm so confused. He went out and did a slow banker lap. I didn't dream that did I?

Stefano Domenicali: “Before moving on to talk about our performance today, I would take this opportunity for a more general observation. Once again today, as has happened before during this season, we have seen cars – no less than four in Q3 – give up on doing a flying lap. Far be it for me to criticise those who made this choice, which is absolutely respectable from a technical point of view, I think it shows something is not right in the way qualifying is run and we should give it some careful thought for the future, because I don’t think it’s such a good thing for the spectators in the grandstand, who, I must say here are amazing in the way they make you feel their passion for Formula 1 and for those who are watching on television.

Agree tyre rules are retarded.
However qualifying is far less an issue for me, than the two tyre compound rule. It absolutely destroys strategy. Especially as fuels been taking out the equation.

Why not let someone do 1 stop bot on hards and someone else 3 stops on softs.

Amazing words from Lewis, considering the way he acted in Singapore qualifying with Massa

 I don't see him accusing Mark Webber or MSC for "not using their minds, again", along with various other mud slinging, like Massa did to him?

Has nothing to do with what Massa correctly said :)

Last week Lewis was in a hurry to pass Massa in qual risking collision, yet MS does it and Lewis says dangerous is my point :)

Kamui's clever little outlap on the harder compound has netted him 7th on the grid.

Hope he has a good race, think we might see more of him trying to defend his position this year rather than the banzai overtakes from last year.

did you see the crash massa had at the first turn last year and took a force India out with him and he`s moaning about alittle tap on the back of the car from lewis, at least he got to finish the race, the guy in the force India didn't as massa wreaked his car
bet massa conveniently forgot about that
they showed it before qual

Dont know why Vettel is so magical by managing to get across the line before the flag, just like 100's of drivers before him and undoubtedly after too

It's not that he's magical. It's more that he never gets caught up in these silly situations. He came out of the garage in good time and then in good time he set a time. This applies to Button and Alonso, as well.

Virtually everytime Hamilton is on track, I now found myself worried that he is going to end up doing something wrong. The only safe place for him now is to be leading at the front, without any cars around. The moment he has some cars around him (in qualifying or the race) there is potential for some form of screw up.

Agreed. Hamilton is a danger to himself and everyone else and isn't even that interesting to watch.

I can't imagine why McLaren don't "let him go" and get in someone who will look after their cars :p

You've gotta like Domenicali.

Domenicali is actually quite likeable and much more sensible than Todt. It seems the bosses of Ferrari, Mclaren and Merc all get along, on camera at least :)

So McClaren screw Hamilton again with tactics, timings and great idea's, idiots.

McClaren are so pathetic, every god damned time, no reason at all for going out final second, no reason at all.

No reason the first run had to be so late, no reason McClaren didn't swap the tyres and send him straight out on a clear track, pee'd around, threw it away, fresh tyres, Hamilton should have done that easily to be honest.

It was Hamilton's own fault. He should have hurried up, like Webber did.

Just in case anyone is in any doubt: http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/formula_one/15226911.stm

Ah so every incident can be used, ok how about Lewis taking Kimi out in the pitlane at Canada costing him probably a shot at the title in 2008 which Lewis went on to win, not sure what your point is.

Had Lewis been man enough to speak to Felipe and say sorry then it would have been a nothing incident, the fact Lewis is too arrogant to admit he was in the wrong is why the other drivers get tired of his driving.

A lot of Hamilton fans running to his defence, I see.

I too, am a Hamilton fan, however, you must learn to accept when your "man" isn't doing a good job. We have reached a point where even the areas where Hamilton used to dominate (ie. qualifying), Button is now able to beat him.

At present, Hamilton is in bad form. No question about it.

Normally, bad form tends to last for about 3-5 races. I think Vettel's dip mid-season, lasted for 4 races before he regained his form. Hamilton's dip doesn't seem to be coming to an end.

When a sportsman is bad form, its best to pull back a little and not try and push too hard. Just get the simple things correct and gradually as you come back into form, you can begin to push yourself again, to do the more difficult stuff.

I think Hamilton just doesn't want to accept that he is currently in bad form (though in Monza, I think he did).

Anyway, it should be good race tomorrow and Vettel will have to work hard. I do not believe that Vettel has the best car this weekend, so he will have to make the difference if he wants to win.

With every race that goes by, I am increasingly impressed by Vettel, so my race prediction is similar to the race results at Singapore:

1. Vettel
2. Button
3. Alonso or Webber
