****The Official Samsung Galaxy S II Thread***

ROM Manager doesn't work with CF-Root, that's why you have the CWM app :).

Exhashdotdot: yeah, grab KF3 CF-Root and flash with Odin :).

Ah, that might explain things, although tried flashing it through cwm app and it failed to boot, unless it takes a really long time to boot (my magic used to take longer, but not as long as I just waited looking at the boot screen (one with the triangle on it)

Just flash from recovery, it's much easier imo, wipe data, cache and dalvik cache(in advanced) then install zip from SD :) (I'm assuming you're trying to install CM7 or something, haven't read properly in pub on phone :p).

Edit above is for SKILL.

First boot may take a while as it has to build Dalvik cache.

Okay, so I made a backup using CWM and copied it over to my computer.

So I'm guessing I need to find the download for Cyanogenmod 7.1, put it on my phone's main directory and install it using CWM? Have I got the basic gist correct?

Yeah, I realise the first boot takes a while, but I'm sure it never took this long with my slower magic...

Still, tried again from within recovery, steps you gave, now I'll just leave it and see if it comes to life at some point...

EDIT: Should probably state that yes, it's CM7.1 I'm trying,

And now at 11 minutes of doing nothing...

Same thing happened to me the other day mate. just reflash cm7.1 from recovery mode.. should work fine.

Aha, so after half an hour I decided it really wasn't going to work, so powered it off (held down power until screen went black), booted into recovery and noticed it was different, went through the process again in this random 'new' recovery and voila it boots in like 30 seconds, so I wasted half an hour but I'm now on CM 7.1 \o/ :p

Do I need to rename the cyanogenmod 7 zip file to update.zip?

[edit] found the "install from sd card" option. I got cyanogenmod up and running. Just going to see if I can revert back now if need be!

Phone keeps thinking that the cable is plugged in...anyone know of something that I'm likely to have that would poke in there to clean the contacts?

At the risk of depressing two posters on one page, I had this problem. Does the charging animation start and if you try to enable USB debugging it says a cable is plugged in? That's how my problems started, see my post above for the malarkey that followed.

Hopefully just dirty contacts for you. I used some compressed air when it started occurring but didn't help.

I've just received my shiny new S2 today and whilst copying all of my photos and videos on to it via my laptop, I got a warning saying that my new device might not be able to read the files!?!?!

The pictures were all simple jpeg files off my last phone and they seem to play fine (and the videos) but for some reason the date on the photos have all been changed to todays date and time instead of retaining the date and time they were taken - so now I cant put them in date-taken order!

Anyone got any ideas on how to fix this???

Thanks guys....

Ah, I didn't realise it was taking that long :D.
