Sony Announces Mouse and Keyboard Controller for PS3

I dislike Xim, As its cheating. Forces the games to work in a way the developer did not intend.

This keyboard and mouse however, will be implemented by the developers of games.
hense I have no problem with it.

Just because you can't use a controller doesn't mean that people spray and pray.

I used to just play on pc but picked up a console on the cheap to play with friends. I was utterly useless to begin with and found myself looking more at the floor or sky than my target. But it got easier.

The good thing about consoles is that everyone is on an even playing field. This will change when keyboards and mice arrive officially. A controller will never beat the reaction times of a mouse and keyboard.

I think it is a bad move. With a mouse and keyboard you can turn around at lightning speeds, something a controller will never be able to cope with.

You will be able to spot them a mile away. Even the little kiddies with no real skill will be dominating games. Shame. :(
 
Personally I think spray and pray is to do with the game not the controller method.

Honestly, I don't think I would use this online as I would prefer to play BF3 on my PC but there are certain exclusives that would benefit from M+B. I think... :p

Ive played MW2 with an XIM 2, as well as Reach, and frankly it was cheating. Maybe that comes from years of playing CS 1.6 semi-pro (not huge cash, but making a couple k per year as a teenager from CS is nothing to grumble at) but the controller players, even those in top clans, couldn't touch me.

You say you 'can disable it' .. so its an option? not forced?
Hell even with it forced the advantage is huge!

Ill just never understand why people feel the need to have an inherit advantage over someone else, and hide behind the guise of "I find it easier to play with a M/KB".
TBH, i found it easier to play CS with an aim bot, but i never because whats the bloody point?

Get off your high horse. Microsoft have endorsed it now and sony are branching in. Dont like it dont comment simple.

People use it to play with their console mates i aint got nothing to prove my KD on cod BO in over 3. I aint going into the console because im a terrible player im going onto console to play with all my mates and i dont like the pad never have feels horrible to use.

Controller can turn quick as a keyboard and mouse. Their are a lot of 10 sensitivity players and turning is extremely quick.

Not to mention they have aim assist.

actually, having used a xim3 a few times, and knowing an owner, it doesnt force any game to work any differently from using a pad, turn speed is limited to max pad turn speed, ie. 10 so there is no speed advantage, I have a few mates who are insanely good with a pad, and they all use 10 as the speed, they say its the only way. And they all own the xim user.
Auto aim assist levels the playing field, you may not believe it, probably because you are not so good with a pad, but its actually true, think your competent with a pad, trying playing without aim assist, and you'll realise that the pin point precision you gain with a mouse is not what is getting your kills.
I have no problem playing against a xim user, but then I realise the reason he beats me is because he plays more than I do and I dont have the time to put in to master any form of input method

Bringing a M/KB onto a console because you hate the pad, and justify it because "you want to play with your friends" is akin to me asking for auto aim on the PC version because i "want to play with my friends" but hate the M/KB.

Cheating, end of.

And as for saying if you don't like it, don't comment. How about if you don't like me expressing my right to an opinion about a gaming issue, on a gaming forum, you shut up or ignore me?

Unless its different for B/ops. In MW2 you can force the sensitivity over 10 with the XIM software.

I wouldnt know about that, but 10 is insanely fast, I dont believe any faster is an advantage its not like your moving a thumbstick much further than a mouse movement to achieve 180 degree turn
 
hopefully it will lead to some decent rts games on the consoles. need to get rid of my pc due to space issues and cant afford a gaming laptop capable of playing sc2.
 
I walked in to Best Buy yesterday here in the States and this was already available to buy! It was a black/white digital camo version rather than the all black version shown.

There was no price tag, but going off the press release in the first post, $127 sounds pretty pricey for this thing. I'd like to buy/review it but can't really justify spending that much money on something I'll probably never use.

Guys this has been available for years. The first game that could use it was UT3. 90% chance they will do the same for that game as they'll do for the rest. I remember when i tried it, M/KB players can only play against M/KB players. As in you get put into your own servers. Not a M/KB Vs Controller.
 
Will be keeping eye on this.

I have steered clear of most of the ps3 FPS exclusives purely because aiming is so much better with a mouse.

Will be interesting to see how it works with dead spots and auto aim but after watching xim3 vids hopefully will be compareable with bonus of being licenced by Sony.

I really can't see this as a bad thing. Take driving games most would prefer using wheels/pedal it's just nice to have that option. FPS again nice to have that mouse option.

Sorry but you are wrong. A mouse can easily turn faster than a controller. It's not in the same league. Even on the highest settings. You can also aim faster with a mouse.

I am prepared to wait and see but I have no doubt mouse and keyboard will be a breeze when playing against controllers.

The controller stick is just not as sensitive as a mouse pointer. Just think about it.

Ive seen padders turn fast and do k+m players.

10 sens requires hardly any turning to do a 180.
