****The Official Samsung Galaxy S II Thread***

Having just upgraded from a Desire I can see where he is coming from - The S2 does FEEL huge compared to the Desire in your hand, mainly due to it being square and not rounded. Clearly it's not a great deal bigger, but it feels and looks bigger than it actually is.

That is just because of the shape of it, the HTC Sensation feels smaller than the Galaxy S II due to it's shape, even though it actually isn't.

He was talking purely about the size of it, saying it dwarfs it, when it doesn't really.

GB Keyboard's prediction is also very good, some others are up there though but you tend to have to pay for them. I have Thumb and SwiftkeyX but still find myself giong back to Thumb while trying out others.

Here's a quick view of how I see them once configured:

I like thumb because you can customise the size of it, in split layout it takes up less space and you tend to learn to touch type better on it when using split layouts as well.

Edit*
My email sig needs an S being added to the end now :p

Thanks for all the info Robbie. Typing this with the GB keyboard and I'm already getting much less missed keys than with the Samsung one. I think the predictions are better too.

Getting this tomorrow. Not really sure about the rooting process compared to my desire. Is there an updated guide anywhere?

There are a lot of idiots on XDA, but the devs have got a bit above themselves in my opinion. The grief they give people for asking questions is a bit over the top.

Then, the XDA mods seem to do a lot of weird/odd things and quite a few devs have moved off to their own sites now.

CM7 is on XDA, but for some reason the page wont finish loading for me at the moment.

There's a thread but I believe no one who actually works on the projects posts about it on there, effectively making it all second hand info.

Found this on three for £26 per month for 24 months Free Handset, seems like a good deal to me? Anyone know of anything cheaper?

Is Three pretty good now 3g wise?

If you get a 3 signal it is the fastest of the networks. Maybe order a free 3 pay as you go sim and see what the signal is like.

Picked up mine on Vodafone for £26 a month. The usual 300 mins, unlimted texts and 500mb internet. Was on phones4u.

All you have to do is flash a rooted kernal with odin. Totally foolproof and safe as long as you have the correct odin settings.

asked this about the sensation but also interested in the galaxy...so:

Is there a way of using the volume rocker to become a camera button when in the camera app ? similar to the way iOS5 does ?

It does this automatically i think :)

I use it all the time now, especially when using it one handed if holding a treat for a dog etc.

no, but this does:p

I'd expect ICS to be pretty similar when we get it. The two photos in the links above didnt show much, only icons on the home screen.
