****The Official Samsung Galaxy S II Thread***

Is that actually ICS then or some modified ROM?

It's a Gingerbread themed ROM with the leaked ICS launcher and Music 4.0, which is why he only shows the music application in detail and doesn't show the "About Phone" in settings.

Just some idiot trying to get YouTube hits.

This.

Though i will be waiting for a ICS based from for the SGS2 when the Galaxy Prime/Nexus Prime is released :).

Anyone got an answer to my question about using the gs2 as a hotspot? I can connect to it OK to it but it just doesn't share the phones data connection and I can't see why. Cheers.

Quick question: do you still get hits if the YT vid is embedded in a forum post?

Seeing as nobody knows why the USB jig doesn't work on my phone, I've got another teaser for you guys:

Why do you have to turn the noise cancellation on in every call if you want it? Is there a way to enable it by default?

When the phone is off and you put the jig in does it put the phone into download mode automatically? Assuming you flashed the old bootloader putting it in bootloader or PDA already.

Old bootloader tarball: http://www.multiupload.com/LQQBRQVJUD

Just updated to XWKI4 and they changed the default font to be bold  why do that and not have an option to un-bold it? Never thought something so small would drive me insane :p

Thanks for the link. I already saw you'd posted it earlier though, so I have actually tried that already. I flashed it successfully but for obvious reasons I don't want to keep trying this on a brand new phone in case I brick it. So even with the old bootloaders it still won't come on. I'm thinking Samsung may have disabled this functionality somehow? I don't know how though.

Other option is to buy another jig, I don't have all the kit to make one easily, and I guess they're not that expensive.

This question's no doubt been answered by now but could someone tell me if the wifi reception issues had been addressed? I remember when people were first switching from their HTC Desire's to SGSII's that there was a noticeable drop in wifi reception.

I ask as I'll be upgrading from my Desire soon.

I've found I have better wifi reception that with the old SGS, but it's still not as good as a laptop for example. I don't think my router (Homehub 3) is up to much either.

Does it automatically go into download mode when you put the jig in when the device is off? If not then your Jig isn't working. No the functionality isn't disabled. I think it's about £2 or so for one off fleebay.

No it doesn't. I'm going to get the old phone back to test with this jig too, but it has always worked on that. Sounds like it might be broken now as the symptoms are identical to a broken jig. Can't see how mind, it all looks fine.

EDIT:I opened up the plastic case on the jig and found everything looking normal. So I fiddled about with it a little, the solder points looked fine. Thought I'd try plugging it in again and it worked! My fingers were on the solder as I plugged it in i now realise, not sure if that changed the resistance or just helped the contact, but it worked and erased the info. Thanks for your help anyway, guess the jig was duff.

Is that not because you've flashed a modem from a different territory? UK is XX not XW, I am using XXKI4.
