thanks mateI think because its internal communication the x4/x4 is less of a problem than if it was x4/x4 on separate cards.
so 8x seems ok then.

but would i need new ram? because mine need 1.7v for stock settings 1600 7-7-7-20

ohhh crap i just thought i will need new cooler also..
grrrrrr
well i guess i can drop it to 1600 9-9-9-20 1.5v
how about that motherboard?
Make sure it supports tri-fire if you are going to run that 6990+6950, remember the 6990 is treated as crossfire, so if the board doesn't support it, it wont work.
ok i want a honest answer..
is it worth me doing the switch to intel which will cost £451~
i have a Thermalright Ultra 120A = AMDWhy will you need a new cooler?
1156 brackets are common place and have been for a while?
i have a Thermalright Ultra 120A = AMD
this says they only do it for intel 775 socketSurely all you need is the thermalright mounting lark?
going from a 1090t to a 2600k, how much in % will i see in performance across all things ?
1090T at 4GHz to 2600k at 4.5GHz, not a huge amount for gaming if at all in terms of framerate, 5-10% max? Certainly not £450 worth.
yeah i've looked at the AnandtechBenchHave you done the AnandtechBench stock comparison?

I assume you will overclock the pants of the i7 also? 4.5Ghz+
