****The Official Samsung Galaxy S II Thread***

might be worth wiping/reflashing, as bt works fine for me on n92.

I think it was a kernel issue before, so I'm trying some other kernels, but having all kinds of issues with it not even getting to a boot animation... gradually getting there now I hope. (Well, back to the point it will at least boot!)

Yea the Facebook app is terrible for draining battery. It eats CPU, watch it in the task manager. I've taken to using the mobile site until they fix it.

Leomar rom has ended.. I had a strange issue with Checkrom where I couldn't download anything through the browser.. I presume this is modem related?

I might go back to Checkrom and flash the Leomar modem...KI3?

LeoMar ROM is pretty much perfect as it is, just keep it until ice cream sandwich, that's what I am doing. Everything works in 2.7.1 and it's fast and battery life is excellent as well.

I've got a feeling it's gonna be a while before any usable version of ICS comes to the GS2.. ironic that I sold my desire last week and the port for that has already started :p

Opinions of my new SGS2 so far.

Awesome :)

Massively customisable, still haven't found a setup I like yet though, may take a week or two. Taking suggestions for launchers :)

I love how it is so sleek and thin compared to the iPhone. The screen, although not as crisp is much more vivid in colour. The extra screensize is nice too, it made the iPhone look tiny after I'd used the SGS2 for a bit, however all in all iPhone screen wins slightly. The iPhone screen really should have been made bigger in the 4s tbh.

Main criticism, is with Kies... on first impressions, it seems awful. In fact PC connectivity in general could have been nicer.

i just got one of these phones today, is there anything i "must" do to it that is a no brainer, my first smrt phone so still learning how it works.

thanks,

my 2p's worth

- don't bother with kies, i used once and binned...
- if you do use kies 'untick' load at start up as it runs like a dog on any pc
- as for launcher there are better ones, but for some reason NONE seem quite as zippy at
touchwizz, someone said they all need to be redone and optimized for duel core phone.

Yeah Kies sucks, but Kies Air is actually quite useful. It doesn't always load up in my browser, but after a few goes it works nicely.

I'm still using Touchwiz 4 launcher, surprisingly good on the SGS2. I was using it on my SGS for a while but it runs a lot better on this phone. Don't see the advantage to changing it really. Although still can't sort app drawer alphabetically!

The 'must do's' for the SGS2 are probably get a decent ROM on and root it. Beyond that not much else, totally depends on how you use Android and what you need. The beauty is you can set it up how you like really.

There's a modded Touchwiz .apk floating around somewhere on XDA that allows 5 icons in the dock and sorting the app drawer aphabetically.. can't find it though. The only one I found was for the SGS 1 and apparently it force closes.

Why do you need to connect it to your PC? (Seriously, I hardly ever physically connect to the PC. I never use Kies...)

TouchWiz 4.5. Worked really well for me, but I've gone back to LauncherPro.

GoLauncher EX for me still, nothing else beats the folder management side of the app tray.
