Steve Jobs vowed on the demise of android!

That isn't the case at all. You haven't backed up anything you have said and you keep saying stuff is wrong, when it's blatantly isn't and security experts disagree with you.
That is why I can't be bothered, you have never changed your opinion, in every thread you go against the norm, just because.

Ahh GD. Where else could a thread about apple and google descend into a heated debate about Windows and Linux and feel perfectly normal.

In the beginning there was Windows.
Permaban used this windows and he saw that it was good!
On the 6th day God created Vista and the world plunged into a dark time of misunderstood memory management and security issues.
Haters began to hate!
On the 7th day God created windows 7 and fixed many of his mistakes but the damage was already done.
Sensing the opportunity to disagree, to be controversial for the sake of it, and so filled with hate for no aparrent reason permaban switched to Linux.
Overnight he was converted. No longer would the abomination that was windows grace his hard disk. No longer would he be forced into endless windows updates to fix security issues which would only affect the most dedicated porn addicts. Freed from the oppression of the corporate poison that had enraptured most of the world he would dedicate his life to pointing out the flaws in windows that would be of no consequence to most of it's users.
Now was the age of enlightenment, now was the age of Linux.
And so in a vain attempt to keep his vitriolic rant on topic he made use of his mighty Google fu skills (possibly on an android device because they are not peddled by "the man") to call forth the many supporters of Linux in the form of links to information which were originally written in Stone by the very first haters.
All this so he could yet again disagree with someone on the interweb and prove once and for all that he, and his new minty Linux family, were superior!

I love GD :)

I think this is worth watching again

Just caught up with this and saw the whole movie, if it's as accurate as they say the Jobs was a monumental ****!!! Sure Bill Gates didn't look great either but at least it seems like he had the intelligence that Jobs sorely lacked

Didn't Gates develop the Mac OS then made his own version called Windows?

Wozniak (sp?) does say it's pretty accurate

If you're going to play like that, no, you're wrong.

I could understand your point 10 years ago. I could probably understand it 5 years ago. At a push, maybe even 3 years ago. But really, have you even looked at any mainstream Linux distro lately?

Lol yes and it was terrible (ubuntu). Went straight back to OS X.

According to the film they both just ripped-off each other wholesale. You can barely call Mac OS developed! 90% of the work was already done for them, they had the prototype in their office! Then Bill Gates did the same with Apple!

Stability is a whole other kettle of fish, one you can't hope to win. Just a short click away from the previous article i linked to...

http://www.infopackets.com/news/unix_linux/2006/20061013_linux_vs_windows_stability.htm

You linked to a BS article that concludes with:

"From a Windows user perspective: a week is a long time between reboots. In fact, it's not too uncommon to experience a 'glitch' that requires a reboot three or four times a week. Simply put, Windows is not a stable system in comparison to Linux."

Erm no. Just no. Even Windows 9x was slightly better than that description. Windows NT and all derivatives of it has never, ever, been like that. NT has equal or superior stability characteristics as Linux.

Hell the entire audio and graphics kernel drivers on NT 6.x can crash and be restarted automatically, with only as much as a glitch in sound/visual output. Can Linux claim that? No.

Indeed, Yes Vista was rubbish but apart from that i never had to reboot for any reason at all in Windows 7, Win98 and Win95 only to complete an installation

I think "rubbish" is harsh. It was a little poor on laptops, but perfectly fine on desktops PCs.

It's biggest problem is that the hardware of the time was not really powerful enough. Windows 7 benefited from the fact that by 2009 the hardware situation, with multi-core CPUs etc, was fully resolved.

Not for me, my desktop BSOD 2-3 times a week and i could never track down the fault. Went back to XP and it was all fine again. So when Windows7 came out it was a god-send and hence a bit of a W7 fanboy now

When Google were already in posession of android and developing it, Apple would have known this and if it was a problem could have had him off the board.

Schmidt was asked to sit-out those discussions, and anything that could be seen as a conflict of interest.

HAHAHAHAH +1

I'm curious to see if they will choose to 'dilute' Jobs design ethic of the bare minimum of holes in the devices and allow users to having things like replaceable batteries and microSD storage... Possibly not though, why buy a 64GB device if you can buy a 32 and jam another 32 in the SD slot...

One route might be for Apple to create a New Flash Memory Card Format!.. (remember the XD card!!) then sell a 16Gb iPhone/iPod-Touch and a range (8Gb, 16Gb, 32Gb etc...) cards to 'Top Up' your memory!!.. Make the iClones feel like normal Human Beings for once!! :D
