There was a lot of us given access by a forum member, not really what sure what went on behind the scenes but to cut a long story short a lot of us now have the beta section on our BNet accounts banned

Wonder what the best approach is to this, is the original thread still kicking about?

It's eaither in this thread (in the early pages) or the old wotlk thread.

From what I recall, Colin had the capacity to invite friends & family members into the Cataclysm betaand decided it was a good idea to open the offer up to any Tom, Dick or Harry that asked for it on these forums. there were a bunch of people who signed up to the forums for this very reason, a host of regular forum users who took advantage too and once someone got wind of it over at Blizzard HQ the whole lot had their beta access permanently removed.

Smelled a bit dodgy from day 1 to me, but hey, you can't con an honest John.

To be honest, it could have been a forum regular that broke the NDA rules, not a newbie that signed up. I'm not 100% sure if new members were actually given invites.

The last bit you wrote though is just made up fairy tale poop. Colin invited us to the Alpha (not beta) as a thank you for the help he had received from us on the forums, since he works for Blizz it was fine to invite people. Breaking the NDA is not fine, and almost cost him his job.

I suppose it wouldn't hurt to send him an email and ask for him to reply in this thread on the 12 month deal, but some people need to stick to the facts, that Colin was only trying to give something back to the community.

Both Bans Hammer guilds are Horde.
There is a 10 slot mumble server running from the website stuffs, but one of the fellas has a vent server that we could use if we need to.

I've culled all the inactive players and everyone who didn't respond to the roll-call for the Defias Brother server, so that guild is ready to start all over again.

Ravencrest is still low pop, but friendly and aiming for guild level 3 - huzzah .

It was a difficult decision for me tbh. Having a girlfriend and increasing amounts of work to do means I can't actually commit to raids or anything at the moment, and I was actually considering cancelling. But thinking ahead, it's only £8 a month I'm paying, and I still go on when I can and do some PvP or something.

I was just a sucker for the mount and the free Diablo 3.

Been messing with my Rogue. It was sitting at 73 while i geared up my level 85s, then when AV weekend hit i decided to play through a few days of that and level up super quick.

Then when i got to 79 i was having so much fun in AV, i decided to make a level 79 twink. So where most people in AV have 15-18k HP, real twinked 79s can have 45-50k depending on class.

Made a short video if anyone is interested. The character is not quite complete, missing gloves and a mainhand weapon so have 1 twink weapon and 1 heirloom equipped. Pretty fun anyways!

The revamped 1-60 questing, is a lot more inviting for newer players, easier to pick up, while also being a nice change for those who are levelling up alts from what it used to be.
Goes a bit downhill when you travel back in time for Outlands though, people say it was the best raid expansion, certainly not for questzones imho.

TBC was complained about constantly back then. Suddenly not long after wotlk TBC became great.

Agreed, to be honest I found TBC to be the weakest of the expansions. For me they took the wrong direction by going to outland and should’ve explored all the lore on Azeroth before thinking about another world. As for the zones, the only one I liked was the starter one (hellfire?) I think they just tired too hard to be different with the zones and I personally didn’t like it.
WotLK for me was a lot better, the zones were well planned, looked fantastic and were more of what I’d have expected the expanded WoW world to look like.
Cataclysm was somewhere in between for me, the areas weren’t as strong as WotLK but are better than TBC but by enlarge I did like them and I also liked the revamped ‘vanilla’ world.

So for me it’s Cata>WotLK>>>>>>>TBC

I've signed up for the Annual pass, being one of the ones banned from the beta for actually doing nothing but testing, if they don't give me the beta, i'll just ask for a full refund and break my annual pass contract - as they didn't take there side of the deal.

I always enjoyed Hellfire Peninsula, disliked most of the rest though. It was always a point of debate with a mate as Nagrand was always one of the best zones in game for him.

With the current xp system and heirlooms I've managed to get to level 66 in Hellfire Peninsula alone...

I also loved Nagrand, but that was all for me.

I wouldn't say I disliked Outland, but it certainly wasn't my favourite.
