** Official World of Warcraft: Cataclysm Thread **

I always enjoyed Hellfire Peninsula, disliked most of the rest though. It was always a point of debate with a mate as Nagrand was always one of the best zones in game for him.

With the current xp system and heirlooms I've managed to get to level 66 in Hellfire Peninsula alone...

Outland is a strange one for me - when I'm levelling from 1-60, I look forward to the TBC zones for one thing alone: you get your hands on gemmable gear for the first time. Once I'm there, I rapidly learn to dislike them as I've seen them so many times before and it just feels like a slog to play all the way through them.

My rogue is currently at level 63, having hit Hellfire at 60, but those three levels have consisted of running 5-man dungeons non-stop, with quests just used as a fill-in while the LFD sorts out another group. To be honest, I'll probably do the same for Zangarmarsh - another zone which feels like it drags on for ages. I'll probably play Nagrand right through - the toon has got skinning as a profession and as it seems like 75% of the quests have you killing some animal or other, it's just free gold.

Other than that though, I'll most likely be dungeon-running all the way to the Wrath zones, which are a lot more enjoyable to play.

The revamped 1-60 questing, is a lot more inviting for newer players, easier to pick up, while also being a nice change for those who are levelling up alts from what it used to be.
Goes a bit downhill when you travel back in time for Outlands though, people say it was the best raid expansion, certainly not for questzones imho.

This really. I used to hate level 1-60, now I hate levels 60-80 (except Nagrand). Done the quests so many times, it just gets boring. I prefer to PvP level from 60-80 and have a bit of fun with the old epic pvp gear!

At 63 you should be doing Zangamarsh anyway, will get much more XP for quests and killing stuff than you are in Hellfire, could even be doing terokkar forest. It will be a slog if you are working your way through the zones ;) Soon as you reach the minimum for next zone ditch all quests and move on :)

I'd go straight to Terokkar tbh. Easily done at 63 now.

Yeah, I use Zygor for levelling and as soon as it tells me to move on to the next zone, I do so - the only time I would normally hang about is if one of my gathering skills wouldn't be high enough for the next zone.

Last night it had already told me to move on to Zangarmarsh, but that's a zone I really hate, so I ignored it and carried on running dungeons, with the odd quest to kill the time while the LFD reset. I guess I could have moved on from Hellfire, but I was getting another PUG so rapidly I really wasn't bothered.

To be honest, with all the XP from the bosses and trash and the bonus XP you get for doing randoms, it seemed to me I was levelling faster anyway, as well as picking up some nice blue gear. Will carry on doing that until I get to a suitable level for Nagrand.

Might well do the same for the Wrath zones - haven't decided yet - but I'll play the Cata zones through in their entirety, to maximise rep with the factions and get some of the early rep gear.

Rose tinted goggles coated with nostalgia glazing.

TBC wasn't as good as people make out!

This rose tinted thing is thrown around a bit to often, even if it does have a point in some cases.

TBC wasn't great I agree, and personally I never said it was great. However, compared to the latter 2 expansions it was good in that respect (up until they removed attunement).

WoW overall is a fantastic game, I played it for 5 years and have been thinking about the annual pass deal. But, I really do believe over the years it has lost certain aspects that it once had. But on the flip side it has gained certain things that it never had before.

It is about preference in the end.

Just blank out your chat in the vid.

What's your char name/realm as this is something I would be interested in doing on my rogue (sitting at 75 atm!)

Dunno how tbh mate!

Don't bother. When you turn off XP, you can only BG aginst other people who have turned off XP. That's nobody. in 5 days i havent had a single BG pop.

...thats just annoying. Been trying to get 150 world tree marks, and i was expecting to get it today....got 149. :(
Anyone know of any other places bar the molton front and the are with the stag shrine in Hyjal with quests that'll net me at least one?

Nowhere. It's worth noting that Into the Fire offers 1 more mark per day than The Forlorn Spire.

Don't worry though. After your initial 150 marks are handed in, you do another 150. Then 125 per vendor type. So that's 3x 125 to unlock everything. You've got some time yet ;) 675 marks in total!

anyone else see these adverts saying that WOW is going free to play up to level 20?

Has been a while now, they did similar to Starcraft 2 as well.

The 10 day time limit has been removed but there are a couple of other minor restrictions like maximum gold and so on.

Linky of the limits here in fact. :)

Didn't know that, thanks. Going to concentrate on Into the Fire from now on, 185 marks to go until I get the flameward Hippogryph.

I played world of warcraft from when I was 20 to when I was 23 , wasted 3 years of my life. Very addictive, stop playing whilst you can!!!

I have been in guilds like inner sanctum and method, I have also played at 2700+ pvp

Were you having fun? If you enjoyed the time spent then it wasnt time wasted

Ok I'm going to bite. So you wasted 3 years of your life eh ? So in them 3 years you were playing wow. You never once went out with friends you never did other hobbies other than playing wow ? If that's the case then that is your fault not the games fault. I see it time and time again where people complain its to addictive or it was a waste of their life.

I play wow I raid high(ish) end. The guild I am in are realm first. Yet you know what I raid 3 times a week. Guess what there are 7 days in a week ! I raid weds, thurs and Sunday. Now I dunno about you but I would be doing bugger all on them days as I generally have work the next day. So the remaining 4 days of my week I can do what ever the hell I like. I go see friends on a Friday or sat as well most of my friends find it easier to go out on them days and not have to worry about getting up in the morning. I can chill out with my girlfriend, play other games or watch a movie whatever I wish to do ! I love how people are so quick to judge WoW players as non social yet I bet those that don't play wow are most likely sitting at home watching crap TV or playing other games being just as anti-social.

TLDR: End of the day you are in control of your life. WoW does not dictate when you SHOULD play.
