Greenwich to no longer have GMT...

I think it's silly and they should just leave it alone! As mentioned above, it has been tried before and failed! Plus the fact we wouldn't be special any more if we had the same time as Europe, no more GMT+1, we like being the centre of time! Also as mentioned, it won't make much difference as most workers and college goers will still be going in in the dark and leaving in the dark!! I am pretty sure I saw this earlier on in the year and thought it was a silly idea then too!

I thought the biggest difference in terms of benefits was meant to be through summer, when it genuinely will make for long light evenings, rather than being light at 4am when no bugger's up to see it. That's where all the financial incentive comes from.

I think I can handle the darkness in the mornings, lighter evenings would surely make up for it :) Hope the bill is passed.

For the record... This is worse than Peri Peri grandad.

Bah at least I didn't create a new thread for my crap jokes :p

Seriously though - does the absolute veto the miserable buggers north of the border get mean they can veto it for England, or just Scotland?

Just out of interest, why is it always Scotland that goes mad aboot this?

Is it because it will disrupt the nocturnal activities of the wild Haggises or something?

Whilst it doesnt really bother me I'd rather have it stay lighter longer in the evenings. Means I wouldnt have to use lights on my bike on both journeys so my battery will last longer :D

but it wont affect summer time will it or are we going to be gmt+2 for what used to be bst?

Because we wouldn't break dawn till 9-10am apparently.

Ohrite. Probably would be getting up in dark in Manchester too then. Ah well, I never open the curtains anyway. I'd rather have more sunlight in summer and in evenings in winter, so I suppose I'm all for it.

They already trialed it for 3 years and decided it was a bad idea. Apparently there was a net increase of deaths over that time. I'm unsure how they can now have maths to support the idea it will reduce deaths? I for one don't fancy waiting til well after 9 for sunrise.

Maybe leaving winter time as is and just have +2 summer time? Although the adjustment to and from summer time might be a bit rubbish.

As I said before, the sooner this is done the better. We want more daylight.

You do know that it doesn't magically make more daylight.... If a day normally has 8 hours of daylight, it will still have 8 hours of daylight irrespective of changing the clocks....

I I don't really care when the sunrises, I just get out of bed then go to work, it makes no difference if I do that in the dark or light.

Snap, I go to work in the dark already so changing the clocks won't make any difference on my commute in... It may be good for the evenings though as I go out running etc when I get home...
