Greenlizard0 Weekend Football Thread ** spoilers ** [29th October - 2nd November 2011]

And why would you do something as stupid as that? :p

The first thing Dalglish done when he was brought back to the club by Benitez was to scout Suarez. That said, Dalglish admits that Comolli had identified Suarez and opened talks before he took over (Dalglish was still doing a bit of scouting for the club then though).

It's also worth noting that Dalglish also said (in the updated chapter of his book to include last season) that when Torres decided he was off, Comolli presented Carroll to him as the replacement. Whether that's just Dalglish saying the right things because Comolli's officially the guy doing the recruiting or not, I don't know.

Even as a Utd fan i would be shocked if Comolli could dictate a signing to Dalglish. KD is one of the best strikers the domestic game has ever seen, i doubt he needs a ****wit to tell him what a good striker looks like!

I'm not sure why there was any debate about it to begin with. How can this be anything other than a foul:

The fact no one protested and it seemed to shock everyone on the pitch when the linesman gave it.

**** off Roy! No intention apparently means it shouldn't have been a penalty :o

He couldn't and isn't meant to be dictating to Dalglish. The official line is that Dalglish says he wants a certain position/type of player and Comolli provides him with some options and between them they choose who to go for.

Because of who Dalglish is though, if he wanted to cause a problem then he'd get his way because going against Dalglish would be as good as signing his own resignation for Comolli.

Pretty blatant at that too, surprised at Suarez's reaction, probably fed up not getting any after being clattered time and time again by defenders, particularly at stoke the other night.

I suppose when that dirty Uruguayan diver doesn't even appeal and tries to stay on his feet, you've got to have 2nd thoughts ;)

edit: Serious question. Can anybody think of an occasion where Suarez has out and out dived since joining us? He'll back into defenders and play for fouls, he'll exaggerate contact and roll about a bit but I genuinely can't recall him going down under no contact.

Imagine the scenario when Comolli was right?

Todays clean sheet was apparently our 5th in a row when Agger and Skrtel have partnered each other. Not only do we look more composed with them at the back we also play far better football. As good as Carragher has been over the years I really hope this is the beginning of the end for him.

Carragher and Ferdinand are two cheeks of the same arse!

The difference in Skrtel's performances alongside Agger compared with his performances alongside Carra are night and day. Agger provides a calming influence at the back which Skrtel feeds off; we all know of Agger's ability on the ball but Skrtel's not far behind him when he wants to be.

The only thing Carra offers now is leadership/organisation at the back but tbf to him, Agger's started to step up in that respect now.

serious question

Surely any player who exagerates contact and ends up on the floor is a dive

Ie backing into a defender (when the defender doesnt move) and the attacker ending on the floor is a blatant dive

Even in games not vs Utd he does it all the time - he WILL be worse than Ronaldo within a season for that reason alone

I think the players have no confidence in referee's giving blatant fouls anymore hence when they are fouled they'll make a meal of it, it doesn't mean it's a dive though.
