Random crashing (battlefield 3 has stopped working)

Not much variety in the maps - In Bad Company 2 we had snow, desert and lush tropical forest type maps all of these maps are samey.

****ing Mortars are driving me insane.

Id say you should be able too. What res mate?

GTX 560Ti here and everything on high except shadows on normal and textures on Ultra :)

cool, my web is so slow, but hopefully i can get on in a bit and give it a blast, never thought i would say it, but my internet is now my bottleneck :(

as for res only 1680 x 1050 as i just have a 21 screen.

You should have no problems running the game on Ultra.

If you do, disable MSAA antialiasing or put it down a notch.

Same here, my connection is rubbish. At 1680x1050 youll be grand id even try it on ultra as suggested.

Yeah, it's very annoying, what router have you got? I am thinking of getting a tp link, got a Thomson at the minute.

I also have a Thompson provided by my host and had the disconnect problem. Disabling UPNP fixes it, I guess on more expensive routers this isn't really needed. Also to make sure check services.msc and disable UNPN there too.

In other news, where did the weekend go? I was meant to do some work but ended up playing BF3 all weekend, really enjoying it. Good excuse to get dressed at 3pm on a Sunday :D

Can someone explain Origin to me? And how the install process works?

Ive just bought the game in a store. I get home, place the CD in, and wait for autorun (which doesn't work, but a side issue). Click install. It installs Origin. I create an account and update the software.

Then nothing. I run the installer from the CD again. Origin opens and asks for my product key. I enter it and click Install.

Now its downloading the game! So what's the point in buying the f'ing thing on disc if I now have to sit and wait for it to DL?

Am I missing something?

EDIT: Cancel all that. It seems it says "downloading" but its actually installing from the disc. Dumkopf.

Anyway, my origin name is DaiaBu if anyone wants to hit me up, probs be ready to play a bit later.

thats sounds like the system is stressed, from what i read on the BF3 forums, a CTD is their issue, complete lock up and BS is system overheating/oc unstable

Weird that I didn't have one issue all day yesterday or Friday night.

EDIT: You got a link to the thread in question please?

its like steam but worse, you sign some agreement that lets EA have access to all your files on your hard drive...

yeah sucks, it will take an age to download as well :(
