Is there any way you can turn off players names above their heads ? I've died loads of times while seeing someone in a corner but the name of my team mate on the other side of the wall appears above him.

I've had this happen a few times too, certainly more often than bc2.

Also I swear sometimes I'm the only one spotting people!

Spots, ammo packs, health packs, revives and repairs are all sadly lacking at the moment. I am hoping this is because there are a lot of new players who don't really get the play-style yet. The few times that I have had a revive I hardly know what is happening!

Just starting to get a little better at this now after a couple hours of play over the weekend...need some people to play online with though as my friend list is looking rather lonely at the moment! PSN - flatliners99 if anyone wishes to add me :)

Anyway back on to the real point of this post, guy at work purchased this over the weekend for the pc but also wants to pick it up for the ps3...question is, can he link the ps3 stats on to the same battlelog as the pc one? The same email address has been used for the pc origin account and his PSN account.

Hope this makes sense.

This could well be the case. I'm new to Battlefield in this and play time is at 9 hours now. I've spent most of that just getting used to the maps more than anything else and deciding which classes I prefer etc.

But now i've levelled up some and know the maps i'm starting to get to grips with all the gadgets you can use and integrating more into the squad/team.

Only online FPS games i've played were pretty much just everyman for himself. Like call of duty which is more like a paintballing session than a warzone.
I reckon a lot of new people are just trying it out...some will keep it up and get better, others will just leave.

So it may not be so bad in a month for example. Time will tell I guess.
There is 6-7 of us who all know each other properly so it's ok as we can get a couple of squads going and work together. With randoms, it can be pretty frustrating so I tend to only play when at least 1 other friend is online.

That's the thing with Battlefield, it's a team game, the idea is to win, not rack up kills. It's also about using all the classes and skills available to you, not sticking to just one.

There are plenty of people who only play a Sniper and will happily sit miles from the base they are supposed to be defending, or sit and do nothing when close to loosing when they should be helping attack an M-COM station.

I'd probably say that jets also fit into the category of being a waste of time, from what I've seen so far, unless they get easier with improvements. Thus far I've not really seen them be used effectively for anything other than shooting down other jets, they aren't really aiding with attacking or defending. I'd say they are more like the planes in BF:1943, they are sometimes useful in the hands of somebody good, but really they are just a minor annoyance that can be quite easily shot down. Actually, the 1943 ones were probably better because they flew slower and had a bomb drop so were easy to take out infantry.

Choppers are effective, more than anything in their ability to drop over bases, obviously they are possible to take down now unlike the Apaches in BC2.

Had a quick surf on some of the jet unlocks:

A10 Thunderbolt stats
•Seats: 1
•Top speed: 700 KM/H
•Standard weapons: front mounted 30mm Gatling gun.
•Unlockable weapons: air-to-ground missiles, laser guided bombs

A10 Thunderbolt unlocks
•Stealth
•IR flares
•Proximity radar
•Belt speed loading
•Laser guided missile
•Air radar
•Extinguisher
•Maintenance (increased auto-repair)
•Thermal optics
•ECM radio jammer

Hmm so in the right hands they are going to be a right pain in the arse! :)

but it's so hard to unlock them when you only have a gatling gun on the front, I haven't killed ANYTHING with it yet :(

I'm just pairing my bluetooth headset with my PS3 and wondered how do I use it in game? Do i just start talking or have to press a button?

they ain't that hard? just need a bit of practice in them :)

I would like a separate training mode to practise on flying vehicles - which must be completed before being allowed to fly in game. To prevent those instant nose divers. Admittedly I've crashed lots of time when I felt the need to try and gained little for the team.

Had some good rush games - seem better than conquest for team play where can get a bit spread out.

Right, this could be the stupidest question in here.

But how do you know when a tank needs fixing? They don't seem to have energy bars any more (except on the HUD when you're driving).

You should be able to take vehicles out with the cannon, just try and lower your speed to make it a bit easier on yourself. As for the headset all you have to do is pair it with the PS3 via Bluetooth and then start talking in-game. You can set it to broadcast to squad only, or team wide. Not sure what the quality will be like with that particular headset, I'm guessing that's one you use for a mobile phone? All the 3rd party headsets I've heard have had crap quality mics, my friend had a Gioteck one and nobody could ever hear him, had a few people use Nokia ones too and they've been pants.

I remember spending hours and hours flying helicopters on empty BF2 servers just to get the hang of them. They were so much fun once you had them mastered. I was never really into jets and I really hate seeing people queue for them.

Agreed though, a training mode or the ability to host locally would be good.

Yeah, it would be good if there was some kind of silly flying practise mode, like Coral Sea on BF1943.

There isn't even any instructions for flying vehicles, given that there is no physical manual and it's not even mentioned in the manual that's included in the menus.

I think the reason people are complaining about helicopter controls is that it worked well on BC2, and similarly they were difficult to control at first... but the change they have made for BF3 is different and requires more control, which I myself haven't quite got the hang of yet.
