Unfunny comedians

Yup, was into Peter Kay when he was doing his services show on CH4 in 1999, was a massive fan and loved all his tv shows after that apart from that x factor spoof one, his best stand up is at the Blackpool tower, after that its a bit samey.

Ooooo bitta blue for the dads, eh

Comedy is incredibly subjective. You can literally have people scream with laughter and clap at material and then do the same material elsewhere or on a different night to a completely different response.

Watching stuff on the telly will rarely get the same reaction as being in a room where you've paid to laugh and are surrounded by people there for a laugh. You are almost willing the comedian to say anything you can laugh at, and often do :p

A lot of the stuff that makes it to TV, particularly BBC, is cut to shreds before broadcasting. Anyone that has seen Jimmy Carr live (for example) would probably be gob smacked at some of his material if they'd only ever watch his TV appearances.

. He is one of the most unfunny comedians out there in my opinion.

as soon as i saw that in the opening of his thread i just thought delete :p ricky gervais is not even unfunny just bad.

on cable sky it is very very annoying lately. you have comedy shows like bbc 3 and on dave + every other channel where they just invite the same people onto there shows.

so its shaun lock , half of buzzcocks , and someone whos unfunny and welsh (sorry its true :()

worst thing is buzzcocks was excellent with mark lemar at least he was funny.

Ive seen a few that I didnt find funny at all.

Like the redneck american chap, who shouts, and has the short black hair. Hate him.

I presume you mean Rich Hall ? I think he is brilliant and one of the very few good American comedians.

Michael Mcintyre gets my vote for the most unfunny comedian.

if someone offered me tickets to frankie boyle or hoover my neighbours car out as an alternative, i would be getting the hoover out.

Must admit I do like the 70s comedians, Bernard Manning, Russ Abbot, Frank Carson

Watching some of Bernard Manning stuff on youtube is just lmao material. Cant link due to swearies.

cheets64 in "finds racist and sexist comic amusing" shocker.

OP: I've been to watch "Live At The Apollo" several times and it is *heavily* edited. There is also an element of people wanting to get on the telly, so they will (VERY annoyingly) fake their laughter.

It's also annoying that they think those moments you describe where the camera zooms in on one person wetting themselves with laughter whilst a punchline is being delivered is filmed in real time, thus they will commence laughter before the joke has even been bloody told.

I was also in the audience when Peter Kay filmed his "The Tour that doesn't tour tour" or similar named (his latest DVD) and it was exceptionally "meh". I think he's drying up.

I absolutely cannot under any circumstances watch this woman, the first screech of her voice or mention of her name makes me turn the TV or computer off.

I'll be slated for saying this, but I used to find roy chubby brown and jim davidson hilarious, tasteless as they are. *hides from stones being thrown*

I take it you have never see the 70s comedians show, Bernard Manning was not just about racist jokes.

Went to his 2nd date of "The Tour that doesn't tour tour" the first night he had trouble with the ending and a few things.

No stone throwing here, there's a couple of Chubby DVDs on my shelf and enjoy them I do :p Wouldn't ever let the GF watch them, though. She'd disown me.

Hate Peter Kay and when Ricky gervais done standup.

However some favs are Ross noble, Michael McIntyre, lee evans and jimmy carr

Eddie Izzard please, my favourite comedian.

Find a lot of the new comedian's quite unfunny.

Ricky Gervais, isn't funny, he's also a horrible ****ing **** too.

I like Bill Hicks and George Carlin, I like Stewart Lee too, Tommy Cooper is still funnier then most new comics.

The current stand up that i really can't stand is Russell Howard, everything he says is just so artificial, same with Ross Noble, they just try too hard and it ends up being too forced for me to enjoy, i find most of their stuff embarrassing to watch tbh.
I also really don't find Peter Kay Funny(but then it is 90% observational and i generally don't get that anyway)

With regards to the OP's comment on seeing the audience laughing, laughter really is infectious! I have laughed out loud when watching comedy with mates when i wouldn't even smile if i saw it on my own.

Funniest comedian i have ever seen live was Rick Mayall but that wasn't stand up it was The New Statesman Stageshow
