Unfunny comedians

Lee Mack I don't think is funny but he tries so hard to be funny its quite endearing sometimes.

But he is NOT funny.

But HE IS funny.

Again it would entirely depend on your taste. His mockery of accents and silly things like the big brother Geordie getting more manly as the seasons contestants get gayer is funny.

To the OP,

Plenty of comedians aren't funny to me too but plenty are.

Al murray for example isn't the funniest person all the time but sometimes he drops a gem.

Stuart Lee is another one that is incredibly on off.

and lol Shifty, Sarah millican can be funny but the accent is one you have to like to endure her.

I love that some people think that Al Murray is like the pub landlord all the time :p

Saw an interview with him, really nice bloke, who comes across very intelligently and was explaining about his interests and how he doesn't fully understand that some people don't get that it's an "act" :)

Any female comedian

Billy conoley
That welsh guy who has to shout every single word. Did a joke about a 1000 candle torch.
Jimmy Carr
That guy who wrote my bookywook

John Bishop, took an immediate dislike to this bloke for some reason. However, I unexpectedly came close to actually liking him when he was on Graham Norton the first time, with some of his gags and stories. But then it went right back down to pure unadulterated hatred when he interupted Diane Kruguer who was in the middle of a very interesting anecdote about Quentin Tarantino on Inglorigus ********, just to make some pathetic one liner about something to do with himself, and comepletley destroyed her input and ruined the story. I've noticed he's done this ever time he's been on Norton.

Him and Sarah Milican are the same, they are sat next to A list celebs but can't resist chipping in with some crap from their stand up in the middle of someone elses turn. Why can't just accept they are there for the odd quip here and there and just STFU for the rest of the time, it is not about you, it's about Tom Hanks or whoever else is on at the time.

Ed Byrne on Norton last night was a textbook example of how the token comdian should comport themselves on a show like Graham Norton, only chipped in when it was appropriate and with genuinely witty stuff.

McIntyre and Russell Howard are terrible.

Is Harry Hill supposed to be a comedian? His TV burp program is a load of tripe! I can't believe people watch that **** and find him remotely funny.

There's very few comedians that imo are funny, but those ARE funny,.. steve coogan, jack dee, ricky gervais, lee evans, dave allen when he was alive, and one or two others, but just about all these others are utter garbage. I appreciate everyone's sense of humour is different but even so, most of the so called comedy on TV today is just dreadful. Feel free to disagree :p

The key point is "in your opinion". I've never ever laughed at anything that has come out of Ricky Gervais or Harry Hills mouth and I really don't understand why people think they are funny. Dave Allen, Jasper Carrot, Lee Evans, Billy Connoly, Ross Noble, Ed Byrne, and others however have literally had me in tears of laughter.

I'm pretty sure that people go to the Apollo gigs knowing who is in the lineup so it's likely they already know they are going to enjoy the particular brand of comedy on show.

Yeah, most are ridiculously unfunny. Especially women.

I'm a little disappointed in GD that this wasn't included in the OP. Standard are slipping.

Personally I'm off to see Sarah Millican on Wednesday and the 6 of us can't wait. Each to their own.

I absolutely cannot under any circumstances watch this woman, the first screech of her voice or mention of her name makes me turn the TV or computer off.

This describes EXACTLY how I feel about Gervais and Hill.

On one of the rare occasions when the wife and I went to the Cinema to watch a decidedly "girly" film we saw StarDust and I CHEERED when he got muted and again when he was killed.

Two things to be learnt from this thread/by the OP:
-TV *live* comedy is massively edited down, and laughter manipulated (big laughs from one bit used elsewhere) to make it flow how the editors want
-Comedy is subjective, it's an art form and what appeals to one person won't always appeal to you, rather than worrying about what you don't like why don't you go out and find something new that you do.

Who ever said Rhod Gilbert/Russell Howard/Michael McIntyre or John Bishop is not funny needs shooting, they're all hilarious. I prefer Gervais's stand up to The Office though, that was crap

Funny female comedians?

Jo Brand
Joan Rivers
Sarah Kendall
French & Saunders

That's about it

Anybody seen Ask Rhod Gilbert? Greg Davis & Lloyd Landford are awesome

I don't get how Harry Hill is, paid, not murdered, liked by anyone. He's simply NOT funny, painful to watch and I actually hate him for how bad he is.

The other two are also simply NOT funny.

Seriously, all the male comedians you've listed have thoroughly unfunny, unoriginal and crap material, but they all say it in a different way. Howard is just plain crap but I find I'm noticing more and more that every "new" comedian that gets famous has the same exact material but a new accent/way of presenting it. IE Mcintyre is completely not funny, its the same jokes but he talks in a slightly hyperactive and slightly gay voice..... suddenly everyone thinks he's funny again.

Cue the same crap jokes but one guy says it angrily and fast, another guy has a kind of gay voice and tries to do voices aswell, another guy does it really slow, as if borderline retarded, several women comedians that I can think of either, link every joke ever to Iran, their period, pregnancy or not having a penis.

If I hear a joke, I don't find it ultra funny the second time because its done in a new voice, or angry/sad/hyper/gay/ultra sweatily.

The garbage UK comedians come out with, haven't heard anything even close to original in years and years, same thing, marginally different angle yet UK audiences lap it up.

Your, Prior's, your early Murphy's, these guys were original and funny. Personally I've never seen an original joke from Chris Rock, ever, same tired jokes, same black/white takes on everything as Prior did, higher pitch voice....... that's it. Sandler, his identical childish jokes that were always the same as everything else, but, acted out on stage like a retard, awful. His somewhat original work, Punch Drunk Love and the likes, is actually very good, everything else is meh.

Larry David is funny because he invented the absolutely cringeworthingly painful to watch comedy style, it IS his, and he's the best at it AND his jokes are generally places other people won't go and original. So new jokes, a style he invented that he's best at doing, genuinely funny.

Rhod Gilbert does not suit a full length stand up show.

He's ok for 10minutes, but the shouting gets tiring any longer than that. I like his Ask Rhod Gilbert show though.

I think some people believe Lee Nelson is a chav comedian but he is actually anti chav and that's why he makes fun of them.
And yeah, I find him funny because he's having a go at scum.

He did History at Oxford, watched a documentary he did on Germany a while back, very intelligent man.

Jack Whitehall is one for me... painfully bad.

Random "humour" is the worst. And even worse are the people who say "you just don't get it".

Some idiot says "monkeh" over and over again and people laugh

I have no allegiance here, but intrigued about people mentioning Russell Howard... how many of you have actually seen him do stand-up live? I don't really enjoy any of his tv work, but was taken along to watch his stand-up tour and it was hilarious, I was in tears for most of it.

Dont see how anyone can find Andy Parsons funny, he doesnt actually have any material, he just puts on a silly voice and face.

I like Peter Kay first time round, but everything since has been the same material rehashed and even repeated.

A few that I like (and have seen live)

Andrew Lawrence
Tom Stade
Jon Richardson
Simon Evans
Ed Byrne
Seymour Mace
Ross Noble
Dara O Briain (Consistent but not hilarious)

Theres a few more as well, but im struggling to remember names.
