If you are using windows vista- you are missing an update. Can't remember which one, so just get them all.
Try to log and launch game from here;

Its likely you will have to reinstall though, if that error is popping up.
I've found RPG damage to be fine, pretty sure it's similar to the damage in BF:BC2, but IR does need a good nerf, a lot of the times i die are due to people using the IR scope.
Yeah when every other person is using them and IRNV something is wrong.
The Light is Still like a Captain America shield.
It seems the rpg spamming is getting worse. I don't know if people are beginning to take up the habit themselves or whatever but I've just been on 3 different servers and either people were sat around with mortars, in a doorways with an rpg or an m320. Also, the second someone saw me and I took cover I'd get rpg'ed within seconds.
Mostly its due to people camping, staying in the same spot, that die from IR
no issue with it myself.
the game is, suppress, move up and take objective.
dosnt matter if they have IR they cant respond properly.
I unload 200 rounds with extra suppress, and seldom see people move up when I do, when they do, we just crawl all over people.
I find most people who whine/complain simply either cant play the game they play properly or just wanna play a specific way that isn't supported by the b3 gameplay.
It is by far easy to play BF3 and totally dominate and own and its kinda easy, suppress, move, flank, kill and repeat
and if a tank show up, change kit take it out.

How do you switch to semi auto or three round burst on some automatic weapons?
Think its 'v' as standard.
M60 extended mag and Squad Suppression is indeed a complete beast.
It is complete lack of team play/ no way to communicate at all in game efficiently, like you already pointed out that makes the game frustrating, Pretty much everyone is out for KDR.
I dont think many people understand the suppression factor.

I know how to play the game mate, it's just IR needs to be toned down a bit.
Aimed 3 round burst fire is almost completely ineffective in the game i really wouldn't bother.
You nearly always lose in close combat with the burst rifles as it seems 50% of people are carbine engineers they will slaughter you.
The torch is silly, I'm on about the IRNV.
