Contract job details seem to check out. Seems about right salary for contract test manager in London. Maybe a touch high but certainly in range. Also bear in mind a lot of contracts can be 6 or 3 months and many contractors have bench time between them. Bank of America do have an IT building in Croydon too (I was offered a permie job there after a couple of interviews but turned it down down because it was a truly dismal place to work).

I think making a lot of money makes almost every other part of your life better. You can buy your way out of most things that otherwise would be hassle. Get taxis instead of buses. not care how much petrol has gone up by, or cheese has risen by 20% .. just buy the stuff. Never worry about bills, ever. So contracting is perfect for me.

Personal life .. well .. as long as your family is more important to you than yourself, and you're a nice guy that never hurts anyone, I reckon anyone'll do OK. I fundamentally reckon almost everyone on the planet is deep-down nice. Having friends and people that like me is *major* important in my life - give self-affirmation. So I've always put a lot of effort into it.
