****Official Call of Duty Modern Warfare 3 thread****

My thoughts on this game ....

1st 2 days off having the game it would not install due to something with steam

once it started to install this was painfully slow about 300kb/s which begs the questions as i have retail copy with disc so why should it download ???

after 3 more days downloading it when i've been on my pc ( and before you say why dont you just leave it on check the spec in sig not what you would call eco ?)

Okay so 5 days later finially get to play it and words can not describe how poor this game is the sounds quality is shocking everything sounds out of place.

Graphics are shocking and sli is not supported but will still run full maxxed out on one 470 at 2560x1440 @ 60 fps.

I think the story so far after playing 3 hours is poor and unimaginative i found most of the time i am proping my head up with my left arm as iam stuck behind some type of mounted weapon and falling asleep with bordom

WHAT A WASTE OF MONEY

Just got this for my new i7 machine with 6gb ram and an ATI 6870.

Got to say i'm quite surprised at how poor it looks and how crap it runs for saying the graphics are terrible.

Looks like a really bad console port. Am i being harsh?
 
Didn't like this at first but enjoying it now.

just inadvertently joined a lobby with some rank boost glitch in place.

got a million points for a kill, now I am prestige and have all my stats borked.

not impressed

surely IW should be able to defend against stuff like this?

Bit late now, but if that happens to someone else, stay in game, ctrl+alt+delete, task manager kill Steam, then kill iwmp5.exe (COD app) That way your game can't sync with Steam and screw up ranks.

Is it possible to save player folders like in MW2 do you reckon?
 
I do like MP for a quick game, it does have it's flaws obviously, but it's good for a quick game.

ive had some great games of sabotage and demolition its all about who you play with tbh like most mp games.

if you have a good group of you you know that most games will be fun if you on your own playing with random pubs then often it can be annoying.

really enjoying the single player :)

Maybe? maybe not?. Last cod game i played on the PC was MW2, and yeah MW3 added ambient occlusion and "native" graphics setting. I saw a noticeable difference from mw to mw2 but 3 is really lazy work on the pc. I won't be purchasing the next cod game unless they improve the directx render path to at least 10 better yet dx11 and much higher texture resolution. Doubt this will happen for the pc platform because cod is developed/designed for the lowest common denominator ie the console, its a winner on that platform and probably sold the most units on the console platform. The gun sounds in mw3 is very poor, they do sound to me like nasty typewriters haha :D

They added certain pc specifics like dedi server files for pc, but after playing BF3 mp mw3 is quite poor imho.

mw3 sp was ok but BF3 mp and sp is the clear winner for me personally.

I have to genuinly say though that mw3 was not worth the money i paid at retail, a tenner max imho, seriously.
 
I think if you've played bf3 in the last month, mw3 will seem a bit crap - will probs get it but may wait until the price drops. Want to carry on the SP personally. Surely gfx can't be worse than MW2?

BF3 and MW2 are different games really, the BF and COD series have always offered something different from one another.

And to be fair to MW3 at least it works, runs very well and doesn't look as bad as people make out.

Got to agree! My pc can play mw on highest settings, cant play BF3 on medium without being very unstable. I know my pc is to blame, but its making me enjoy cod a whole lot more, plus I find it much easier to go on for an hour, have a quick bash, and off again.
 
Bah, 93% downloaded and then what I guess was an update sent my download completion back down to 86%.

This game is annoying me before I've even started it.
 
Im getting a 'This game is currently unavailable. Please try again at another time error' in steam. Anyone else having this problem?
