I've bought a new hard drive and am having no end of difficulty getting it in use! I put it in a new hard drive enclosure and it won't show up in my computer on my laptop, or on that my computer screen on my dads laptop. Then took it out the enclosure (no warranty voided as it's an external drive) and plugged it into my gaming pc where it's pretty much the same. It appears in device manager but not in the my computer screen. I did read the FAQ but was still unable to solve the problem.

PS: PC World has a strong dislike for me now :).

Done that now Skyripper it gives me a question:

It says I need to initialise disk 1 before I can access it.

Use the following partition style for the selected disks

MBR

GBT

I don't know which I should click, but the drive isn't going to be used as a boot drive I plan on putting it back in the external. Thanks for your help so far though :).

Ok, thanks Stelly. Now I need to format it iirc. 931.39GB unallocated. It only gives me the option of NTFS, is there a default allocation size unit I would benefit from or just leave it to default? Also do I want to enable file and folder compression?

Thanks Stelly :). If anyone knows anyone who wants a 2TB or 3TB WD Caviar Green then let me know as I might be able to get some more cheap.

I do wonder if they changed the labels at the display yet though... thing is I can't sell on here till I got 250 posts... rather annoying tbh. Could I not make a "contribution" instead?

No price checks are allowed outside the Members Market either.

And if you ever do ever sell anything in the Members Market you're not allowed to sell it for more than you paid for it.

Forgot about that... it's a shame because tbh I'd like to get my system valued. Most importantly my PSU as I'm moving overseas soon so will have to sell my PSU...

Why?

PSU's usually work over a range of voltage. Some of the Corsairs, for example, work at 90-264V.

It generally the cheap and nasty ones which only work at say 110/115V and 230/240V.

You may only need a new power lead (or plug adapter) to use your PSU abroad.

Formatted the empty partition of my other hard drive. Oops. Oh well. Back to square 1 lol.

Edit: now formatting the correct drive, without a drive letter :).
