its one way to handle campers, people who does not play for the team.
BF3 is a team based get objectives, defend and attack, to support the other player.
I played a few and saw 3 tanks owning my team due to none was actually trying to kill them, just playing around with their own way, so I left the server. Noobs I dont play with, ruins the game experience.
Camping is a MW3 and cod game, a more realistic approach is cover, supress and advance as Battlefield 3 is about.
if the squad does that, you move over any team.
Handling campers, people either lazy, with such playstyle, shouldnt play Bf3, so some game mechanics has to be there, mortar is such one, see people complain about them as they cant lie down and snipe or camp, well mortars are good then, and easy to counter also if needed.
I find most who complain and whine, isnt able to adjust their playstyle to the game design. can counter anything. but if all are noobs, well not so much.
Actually it finds everyone, more so than the campers, it finds the people who are moving from camouflage to camouflage point and in camouflage positions which is in line of sight but hard to see which is good tactics and in not considered camping.
But that choice of play is out of the window now for new players and for people who have not unlocked the counter to it= less choice of play style which is the last thing the game needs as it harder to get into than MW in the first place but now you start with a big disadvantage with BF3, unlike MW which could put off new players even more.
People are not moaning much yet because not enough people have it and want to try it out for themselves, but the amusement will wear off when 90% of players have it and the only scope being used is the IRNV.
Quick scoping is a none issue as a good Quick scoper will have the target within scope view as soon as he brings it up to his eye, i have my hold breath button on the same key as Aim so it all happens at once, if its out side of it and in the peripheral then its fail and is normal aiming acquisition.
I have taken on snipers with my Saiga, IRNV with 12G Frag rounds.
Personally i have no problem using it at snipe distance or close quarters, the viewing area through the scope is bigger then all the rest.
It will get to the point that all the other scopes were just a means to end of having to use them until IRNV unlock for that particular weapon.
So less choice of people willing to use other scopes once they have the IRNV, less choice of people willing to use other camouflage outfits once they get the anti IRNV camouflage.
The IRNV usage may drop off when enough people have the IRNV camouflage and will negate the IRNV to usage a against new players who have neither, what a welcome.
As for adapting playing style, i have indeed and i do the thing that i don't like really doing unless I'm a sniper which I'm not 90% of the time, i like to move around allot but use cover when its wise to do so, but now on some maps i find a good camping spot with no line of sight behind solid objects, silencer and claymore and wait for them to come to me, so basically IRNV encourages camping more than any other BF game.
