Ohh... Maybe I've misunderstood. I thought FOV was the angle of what you can see on screen. For example in real life, humans see close to 180 degrees. I thought how far you can see was the draw distance.

Please correct me if I am wrong.

Imo Recon needs the Support's C4 or Claymores (dare I say it, BF2 bad memories...). Support has loads of extra functionality through its claymore and mortar unlocks but Recon has next to no extra functionality for earning points/kills. The sensors and MAV are pointless and gain hardly any extra points at all-- they're just not worth the time. And the Spawn Beacon isn't that useful, either, really. Recon is a very weak and underpowered class right now. It needs an extra role to add viability.

Is C4 currently a Support only weapon?

What on earth, why do you think Recon needs C4?!

It's already OVER powered, MAV is VERY useful at spotting enemies for your team and you do gain A LOT of points. It's pretty much simple to judge bullet drop and from the SV98 upwards the guns are ridiculous.

Spawn beacon can be used very effectively and helps your squad a lot on the larger maps.

Have you actually played with / against decent Recon players?

To answer your question, I primarily play Engineer (as that’s what my friends need) but I have recently levelled up most classes, especially Recon.

Yes on conquest versus vehicles, Recon is pretty much useless. Against infantry I will be very surprised if Assualt and Support frag more unless solely in close combat scenarios and team suppressive fire or the Recon player is just useless.

Every single one of the servers listed on the first post are completely empty - what the heck is going on? We've struggled to populate our 64 for a few days - all the regulars seem to have dissapeared.

A week ago, all four of our servers were choked full of players, so much so that our admins sometimes struggled to get on! Now its a barren wasteland of a game.

CoD and Skyrim, it will be worse when TOR is out.

Yes the MAV can get you a few points, but you will be way behind those on the ground doing useful things such as capping and killing. Never seen a useful recon player, it's usually me remoting that MAV when struggling to find those elusive (or usually wallhackers) players around a flag, but of course it's useless against armour, and it's not hard to spot those. But the MAV becomes useless when you have proximity unlocked for armour, as now you have firepower and the ability to find people hidden away waiting for you to leave.

When I unlock the m98b I'll let you know my final verdict.

SKYRIM

I used to spend ages waiting to get in servers now i hardy ever see a server stay at 64 for more then 10 seconds.

cod, skyrim being the main killers, but I think blaming it on a game is half the story.
BF3 just isnt the good to warrant long term attention and thats why people have left, its pretty sad to be honest that a studio that delivered BF2 have been reduced to releasing utter cack.

I also think the whole console/pc has nothing to do with it - just look at Skyrim made as 360 lead but still runs and looks great on PC bc the gameplay remains untouched....DICE in their decision to go console somehow felt the need to **** around with things far too much.

and for those saying karkand will bring people back. Have you seen the videos - **** a duck it looks awful.

still they got their money , i doubt they care what the server population is like.

Not on Broken they aint... as the post above said, the broken servers were very busy... last few nights i've not seen the 64man fill up.

I do think CoD and Skyrim have partly taken a chunk away, but there are something like 30,000+ servers on game tracker alone.... However i am worried about SWTOR, Ea have their money and couldn't give a **** about BF3! Whats worse is After EA realise they could generate £50mil/month in subscriptions kiss good bye to big budget Battlefield launches as they'll no doubt throw all the money at P2P games!

We've been lucky our 64man server seems to fill its self up and our guys kick off out HARDCORE mix mode server each night.

We've changed our MIX MODE to hardcore only mate, i know you were asking a few pages back. We have no rules against using RPG either.
