****The Official Samsung Galaxy S II Thread***

Thanks. I just noticed the font on everything seems "thicker" for lack of a better description. Not sure I like it, having had the other font for the last 5 months :(

I guess I will get used to it. It seems particularly "thick" when displaying black text in SMS, Gmail & Twitter apps.

Do you happen to know what the old font was called and if I can get it anywhere? (I'm sure I won't need it, but just in case!)

I doubt it. They're having trouble with CM7 on SGSII due to drivers, the same drivers I think they would need for CM9... I could be wrong, but I would have my money on a reasonable wait.

Is it just me or is the iplayer app on this completely crap? Buffers like crazy even when i have a 3 bar wifi signal and 20 Meg internet and my phone is the only thing on the network! Doing it straight from the website works flawlessly but on the app it's crap!

Need a new ROM for mine, CM7 is really unstable for me at the moment, having to force close every other app :(

Im on CheckROM 3.1.1

Only went to it because I liked the idea of the Kitchen Pro app being on the phone. That and Jkay makes for some good customization :)

I havent used CM7 mind so cant compare the two.

Has anyone had a play with overclocks? Just put mine to 1.6Ghz using Siyah Kernal. Not sure if Quadrant scores count for anything anymore, but I was surprised :p

How do you get the percentage on the battery symbol?

Did some searches but every app i tried still didn't do it in the notification bar like that

Joy. Well it seems there's definitely something up with the radio on my phone... battery dropped 80% overnight and it struggles to connect to WiFi or the data networks.

A lot of the time when it DOES finally connect to my wireless network, it doesn't actually seem to be connected, as I can't actually connect to anything.

I haven't even put any custom ROMs on (ever) or installed any new apps lately either..... has there been any other reports of similar knackerage?

For those who have rooted and played about with custom ROMs. Do you do all your backups just to the SD card?

I'm also getting confused... as I understand it:

Titanium backup - backs up your apps and data, yes?
CWM - will back up your current ROM, so you can recover? But how? Through Odin?

Anything else I need to backup?

Also, I'm quite keen, to try custom ROMs and such. Is there anything I should be doing/buying before I do to make recovery easy? Incase things go wrong! :o

No, CWM creates an exact image of your ROM state and you restore it either via CWM app or CWM recovery (hold volume up + home + power until it loads up).

OK. So if things go really pear shaped and lets say your phone won't boot (wish I guess is rare).

Will Odin and a flash of a ROM fix it? Then recover your apps and data with titanium?

If the phone won't boot it will always boot into download mode or recovery!

VOL^+HOME+POWER = Recovery.
VOLv+HOME+POWER = Download MOde (for Odin).

The best method is to use recovery to backup and restore.

OK thanks.

So before I go flashing the thing to bits and trying different ROMs, I guess first thing is to go get an SD card, or will phone memory suffice?

Anything else you'd recommend?
