***** The Official Galaxy Nexus Thread *****

@bhavv - I have sorta accidentally upgraded my o2 contract...!
£21.50*24 on o2 200 with 500MB, though I can take off the data and make it £15.50...which I will as 3g here on o2 is worse than terrible.
And £179 upfront. £557 all in! :)

I dont see how anyone could use a phone like this without any internet.

I gots to have plenty of data, tethering and VOIP allowed.

has anyone noticed when panning fast whilst recording video there's like a strange warping at first almost like the picture is catching up? is this an effect or something?

It's doubtful that I will be using the SIM in the Nexus! It'll go in a backup phone for Vodafone blackspots or whatever. I should mention that o2 do allow tariff downgrades after month 9, so...
Galaxy Nexus £179.99
1 month at £21.50
8 months at £15.50
15 months at £10.50
A total of £482.99

Having looked after upgrading, the above tariff and phone price are available to new customers, so I was slightly annoyed. To be honest I misunderstood the tariff being offered. For some reason I had it in my head that I was being offered the £10.50+£6.00 tariff. But, if I'd have gone for the cheapest tariff, and paid £249 for the phone, £16.50 for month 1, and £10.50 for months 2 to 24, the total would have been £507.99

Sadly o2's 3g reception isn't good enough in my area for me to justify using them as my main provider anymore :( But the 'finance' contracts they offer are superb! :)

I have been using the Nexus all day today and for every amazing thing about it I have concerns. I feel like this phone is the Android iPhone 4S in much the same way!

Positive

Design - Samsung have made a phone that is the LARGEST phone on the market alongside the HTC Titan (4.65 vs 4.7 inches) yet this phone FEELS so small.

It feels like an iPhone 4S in my hand - except for being much lighter. I consider this to be a true engineering feat in making a phone that is larger than any other phone feel small. The Galaxy S II feels enormous compared to this phone.

Battery

I hate to say it but I literally used my phone from 4pm until 10pm and I was down to 33% battery life - It is still on at 3am but only because I haven't touched it since 10pm. I would be seriously worried about this phone lasting a whole day of 12 hours of moderate use without charging.

Data Hording

I have a 500MB limit on my O2 data tariff and in one evening I used 88MB just browsing the internet and playing with features. The set-up and downloading of apps was done via wi-fi and used 483MB.

If I had set my Nexus up on the mobile network I would have gone over my data allowance in one evening. That really concerns me lots.

Thank you for the ability to set a limit on the Nexus. Do O2 charge you if you go over?

I also got it unlocked for £7 using eBay so that was cheap and quick and only took a few hours.

Couple of other nagging bugs - the panorama doesn't seem to do anything until your panaroma is not photographing what you want - it doesn't start right away!

Are you sure about that? :p

Battery life on my Note has increased after a few charge and discharge cycles. By the end of the day, I tend to have around 40-30% battery left after using it to check emails, browse the internet for quite a while and various other things I wouldn't consider "light use".

By used do you mean with the screen on most of the time over that 6 hour period? That sounds good to me as such heavy use is surely rare and no phone would last well in that situation.

I don't consider the Note to be a true phone...

The Note itself is marvellous - don't get me wrong I have one and with Ice Cream Sandwich the Note could well be the BEST device EVER with all those features and that massive battery!

When you hold the Note you know it is big - it doesn't feel as big as it actually is but you still know it is a large device.

The Nexus physically feels almost non-existent. It really is quite a feat.

Yes o2 will charge you. Firstly when you go over your 500mb limit your speed will be capped at about 30kb. You then have to pay to get another 500mb.

I have decided to stick with GiffGaff and get the G Nexus on PayGo! Can't wait! :)Unlimited internet ***!!
