***** The Official Galaxy Nexus Thread *****

The main reason i bought this phone is for the pure Android experience, no Samsung crap, no network software, just Android.

I don't even notice the Samsung crud on my SGS2. Using Go-launcher I just hide the apps. Samsung have made some handy additions to like colour presets, brightness from swiping nitificaton bar, great media support, gpu acceleration. Only problem is delayed updates. My battery life is great thanks to a great stock rom and exynos.

I got the following

Phone Free
18 month contract
400 mins
750 meg net
Unlimited texts
Orange
28.50 per month

The above was a upgrade with P4U and works out £513 over 18 months
That's mental! I phoned them and the best I could get was 41 for a similar deal.:-( good job I told them where's to go, will re-ring tomorrow.

lol compared to your desire its very special....

if you said like me you had a SGS2 or maybe a sensation then you could argue that point, but its quite a big improvement on the Desire,

just cos your not getting one don't knock it to make yourself feel better :D

Wow wow wow, get a grip. I never said that my Desire was anything close to the GN obviously. What I meant was that it's not really that big an improvement over the SGS2 or Sensation era of phone were the tech has been out for a while. So I'm waiting for the "next generation" so to speak.

I was just expecting a step up hardware wise with the GN whereas ICS is it's only selling point. Don't get me wrong ICS is a big plus about the phone but I'll wait for the next ones as I don't want to sign an 18month contact on a phone that's a bit "old hat" (aimed more at the SGS2 & Sensation).

We've all known that for over a month now anyway, specification was made official 5 weeks ago.

The screen is a massive selling point too, the only rival in this area is the iphone which has a much smaller screen.

Has anyone managed to get Thumb Keyboard working properly? It doesn't show suggestions and can't seem to get it working. Used to love Swype but now can't live without Thumb Keyboard :(

Also, is Three still the cheapest place at £499.99 plus £10 top up to get this Pay as You Go/Sim Free or has anyone found a better deal?

Cheers
John

I'm not sure how anyone can say this phone is old hat?? It has a top spec cpu, a gig of ram, the latest os and the best screen on the market. So the gpu and camera aren't the greatest, do either of those things really matter? If the camera is that important, get yourself a good digital camera. If playing games on your phone is really that important then you should be getting an iphone anyway. No better phone than the nexus for me.

Ignore this. Got Thumb Keyboard working. For some reason, auto complete/suggestions doesn't work in web browser. Not sure if this is a Thumb issue or an ICS one

Retentions worked for me, very happy with what I got, I recommend everyone try retentions, never just "upgrade".

This is true, O2 and T mobile have done some very amazing things for me through retentions.

Since Im changing my main phone line to my 3 contract now, I'll be giving T mobile retentions a workout to see what they will offer me to stay with them (but they might just say GTFO then in more pleasant terms :()

Have to admit, I wasn't really sure I totally liked this phone but after playing about with it for a while, really enjoying it now :)

Auto Brightness is terrible on mine and still not impressed with speaker volume but that's it. Missed the hard menu buttons from SG2 at first but not any more.

Take the screen off of auto brightness and the screen is really, really nice.

It's a brilliant phone for web use. Loads pages very quickly and love the full screen and quick controls settings under labs. Gives you even more usable screen.

Still think I'll send the P4U Orange Contract one back and just buy it P&G on Three.

WHY CANT MINE ARRIVE ANY SOONER :x

Just 4 hours of browsing forums on my X10 mini pro and the battery is dead :x

I trust that the Galaxy Nexus can last for at least 12 hours on a full charge?

Also how is the typing on it? Will it be as easy, or hopefully easier as typing on my mini pro's QWERTY keypad?

I think it'll be better.

12 hours of time with the screen on? No way.
