***** The Official Galaxy Nexus Thread *****

Woah, glad I didn't get this, i live in a 2g area, looking like I will have my htc desire for a few more months!

P3Droid is supposedly well respected in the Android community.

Really? Seemed like a stupid thing to say-why would you use 2G.
You would use 2G because you don't have 3G coverage.

If he can't figure that out then I'm not paying much attention to anything else he says:p

On a diffrent note, has anyone found a keyboard where word suggestion works in the browser

btw is the sound problem anything to be concerned about on t mobile or 3? Will there still be any invisible problems like excess radiation leak?

Actually I have to agree with him, why even bother getting a phone like this on 2G?

You wouldn't get the phone just yo use on 2G. You would be on 2G because the area you happen to be in at that time doesn't have 3G cover. Happens to me on the way to work and in some parts of my home.

Oh ok. Yea my 3G internet tends to be more reliable than Sky broadband (dead router blinking orange atm, account in fathers name who is on holiday till Xmas), and my 3G barely ever fails to work.

Gogo One Plan, please hurry :(

I also hear that 3 have better download speeds than what I currently get on t mob too.

It must be nice if everywhere you ever go has a 3G signal, but unfortunately that isn't my experience. 3G is very patchy away from town centres.

I have 0-1 bar of 3G coverage in my home. I rely on 2G for calls and wifi for everything else. If I head into town then 3G is fine, but lots of places I go have none. Heck, last time I checked the main hospital in this area does not receive 3G coverage on any network, for example.

I have to disagee that 3G is patchy away from tow centres.

You are most likely not on T mobile or 3 who have 95%+ 3G coverage in the UK.

Why do people even bother with O2 or Vodaphone? They suck lemons for 3G.

I'm on tmobile orange I do not get 3g and barely signal at work, 3g at my window, so unless I'm in norwich I am usually on 2G or edge

So what is the next major phone release to look for?

LOL never trust them network coverage maps

Its just PR bull.

Im on T-Mobile largeish city (stoke on trent) Website postcode checker says it should be 4/5 bars and "coverage is very good"
2g and 1-2 bar signal at home

At work parts of the buliding (my desk!) are in 2g

My nans house is 2g as well

If i go to town then its fine but i live 15 minutes away from the city center

I have a 3 sim, it's no better than O2 here. In fact it's worse because in their wisdom 3 decided to turn off 2G coverage here, making it completely useless in a lot of places.

And note that 3's 95% coverage map includes many areas they designate as "outdoors only". My home falls in their "outdoors only" 3G coverage on their map. Yet I still only get 1 bar with them outside.

Come to Northern Ireland. My closest 3G is 45 minutes away on any network. Outside of Belfast, Londonderry, Newry and one or two other large areas, we are on our own.

Check your own 3 map first!;)

You need to manually select, or have a phone that lets you pick 3G only signal. 3G coverage oon T mobile is better than their 2G is.

Or theres just loads of people here living on farms :p

They do not have 95% 3G coverage of the UK. They don't even claim that. They claim they provide 3G coverage to 95% of the UK population.

There are huge chunks of Scotland with no coverage and plenty more places UK wide with poor 3G coverage. It's a fact.

Lol, sharpen up a bit bhavv! :p

There are many times when you will be on 2G, it's very rare to be on a constant 3G signal for anyone really. Even if you think you are, and the phone may even say you are, you probably aren't.
