*** The Elder Scrolls 5 - Skyrim Official Thread ***

Funny, i was going for a full mage build, but get my ass handed to me by oppossing mages to easily so i..
Decided to do the quest beginning at peyrites shrine, nets you a nifty shield that absorbs or reflects 60% of the damage thrown at you by casters.

You can even tank damn dragons with this thing, literally just sit there while they try breathing fire and ice at you and just /lol at them

On another note, been levelling up other attributes such as sneak and one handed, crafted a full daedric set and dragonbone set, but i find the light armor set i have from thieves guild questline is adequate and it looks badass.

Not to mention the damage from my two enchanted legendary one handers is quite nice.

Enjoying archery aswell, been taking down giants with ease.

level 36 now, and damn i want to play more but cant, i have no spare aa batteries and cannot find my play & charge lead or my rechargable battery pack, and i'm waiting in for the delivery, hopefully i don't try and skin the cat to make armour with before it arrives....

What should I do when a random dragon just lands right near me? Leg it?

Insult his mother

Also no other games coming out in the near future so I can dedicate all my time to this.

If you haven't played the Mass Effect series, then I suggest you do as 3 will be coming out in the new year.

Both RPGs, very different of course, but ME2 and Skyrim is the games that have actually had me glued for hours and hours and I actually think about the game after putting the controller down.

To enjoy ME 2 as much as I did, I recommend you play through 1 first. You have to put up with some annoyances and some dated looking visuals, but it's well worth the payoff.

Im trying the Azuras shrine quest and the mage is seriously kicking my ass in literaly seconds :(

He did the same to me, so I'm ashamed to admit I had to put the difficulty down so I could get past the 3 Dremora before I could take him out. 3 onto 1 was so difficult, it was either that or end up throwing my controller at the TV.

Reading that just gave me an idea. I wonder if the best way to deal with mages is simply to carry a 2nd set of (light?) armour around, one that has been enchanted to better deal with magic. I know it'd be a pain swapping in battle, especially if you're fighting multiple types of enemies, but it would certainly go some way to making them easier to deal with. I'm close to maxing out of smithing, so if I do that tonight I might make a light Dragonscale outfit and see if I can find any good enchantments to use with it.

Do you mind me asking how much you got for it?

£25, I could have got more, but I only paid £9.99 for it and a quick sale is always good. Buyer paid instantly.

Is it just me or dose the games AI seem to get harder all of a sudden. I take it my weapons are just pants at this stage. Im trying not to change any of the weapons or upgrade them yet as I want to get the Dragon armour first then work from there, or am I going the wrong way about it?

The game gets much harder. However, the Azuras shrine quest boss is rock at any level, I did it early on. (Take the black star by the way. Grand souls guaranteed from any humanoid mob even basic bandits). Took me 6 goes and I kept difficulty slider in the middle.

I am level 34 now, and although some of the radiant quests and dungeons are still fairly easy, mobs are getting harder and the main quest / proper side quest missions (like guild missions not miscelaneous) have become really challenging as these scale with you. I don't bother with taking lots of gear for different fights. I am roleplaying a 2-Handed barbarian style warrior and that comes with certain challenges like a major weakness to magic. Keeps the game entertaining.

The only reason I am facerolling stuff is my set up, even then a boss fight or dragon can be a hard kill unless I can get in range. A mage can kill me before I reach him. I am 2-Handed with Light Armour. My smithing skill is level 180 with 4 items of +20% gear. My enchanting skill is level 60 and with grand souls from the black star this gets me up to +31% stat increases.

This means I can smith everything to legendry and for upgrading gear I am specced for in my smithing perk, I get a huge increase. I chose the left side of the smithing tree (light armour btw). I have a full set of Dragonscale armour but I don't use it and it isn't much better than Scaled Armour at Legendry +180 smithing.

With Scaled Armour upgraded to legendry I have an armour rating of 400. The damage on my Skyforge Steel Greatsword it @ 225.

This basically means a 3-5 hit power attack kill on blood dragons once I get there. I have decapitated dungeon bosses on the first attack :D. Although I can kill quick, I still take a fair bit of damage and do die, even at this level of gear. Spider caves are still rock hard when getting swamped.

Skyforge Steel Greatsword (legendry but no enchant), I have an Elven armour of health (legendry +30 health), then Scaled Bracers (legendry +31% to 2 Handed Damage), Scaled Boots (legendry +31% to 2 Handed Damage), Scaled Bracers. Necklace (+20 Stamina), Ring (+31% to 2 Handed Damage)

2-Handed Perk Tree (Combat) 8 Points Invested

•2-Handed 5/5 Barbarian (+ 100% Damage @ skill level 80). This all stacks with + 2-Handed damage gear too.

•Champion’s Stance (Stamina costs reduced 25% on power attacks).

•Devastating Charge (25% increase in power attack damage and chance to decapitate) I have decapitated hard bosses early in a fight before for instant win.

•Deep Wounds 1/3 (Attacks with Greatswords have a 10% chance of doing critical damage) A must to unlock critical damage, only need 1/3 points in this though. You only need to pick one of the 3 tiers at this level for your relevant weapon, it is no benefit to invest in Limbsplitter or Skullcrusher if you don’t use axes or warhammers for example.

•The rest of the perk tree isn’t that important to me. Sweep (Sideways power attacks with two-handed weapons hit all targets in front of you) may be useful but you never really get mobbed in this game so it would have limited benefit. If you knew you were getting swamped all the time it would be worth it.

Mass Effect 3 isn't out until March, so still quite a while yet, unfortunately. They're my favourite RPG series of all time, I can't wait for the 3rd game.

March, while I guess is relative - is the "near future" ;)
Depends on how much you're gagging for ME3 to come out, it's not that far off.

I understand your frustration, but I really dont want to have to change the difficulty, I beheaded his other mages's easily with my two handed weapon but once I got to him it was late in the night and I only tried him 4 times.

I was just surprised, I can understand guys killing me with huge weapons in one or two hits, but a Mage in one hit or two WHAT THE HELL. Will try and kick his ass tonight, just cant get over how strong he was :(

A lot of them just refer to the side quests listed under miscellaneous and AI generated quests. They are just part of the game (radiant AI) and are ongoing. as you find them.
They're also generated with an aim to get you to places you've not been before (generally speaking). It's like the bounty quests, they've always taken me to places I've not yet visited. It's quite clever and I really like it.

I keep wandering into this thread for a read and it's torture. I love Obliviou/FO and want to buy this so badly but I think my sister has got it me for Xmas :p :(

Buy it now, play it till then and sell your copy just before Christmas so you can continue playing when she gives you "her copy"

How will you dfecide which character to take through to the third?! :D
I have absolutely no idea :D I'll probably just re-use an old character for each game, I've still got a couple of achievements left for levelling up a character to the maximum, so I guess I'll have to re-use an old one for that.
