Same here. Click deploy (if I get that far) and the game crashes. Well done EA and Dice. WELL ******* Done for making a slightly unstable multiplayer 10 times worse!!!!!!!!!!!

your teams pilots are terrible? you said it yourself.

Base getting raped by aircraft before they can take off, tanks getting nailed before they get 10 yards. How are the pilots supposed to get off the ground??

Was never this bad before the patch. Unbalanced isnt the word.

Oh wait, lets have the all team aiming up at the sky with stingers trying to take out the aircraft while the other side run around with knives collecting dog tags.

Face it, they have gone from one end of the scale to the other. Too easy to take aircraft down to not being able to touch them.

Operation Firestorm was a great map for infantry and vehicles alike.

This is what worries me.

It was bad enough with my jet almost taking off only to be shot down by enemy jets sending me in a fit of rage before patch.

DICE is just maintaining the BF tradition of infantry being cannon fodder for the vehicular overlords.

Actually managed to hit a chopper yesterday with a Stinger inbetween him flaring, didn't even disable it. Went back to RPG.

I've heard people saying "Stingers aren't supposed to be an answer to air assets", but if you're on a team without any decent pilots, or at least noticeably worse than the other team, then your life as an infantry guy basically consists of ducking between cover before the chopper guy comes back and rapes what's left of the building you're sheltered in.

true, but yet again, there are maps for just infantry so i guess people play one or the other,

but i do agree maps like caspian boarder, the roof limit of how high you can fly should be so much higher, so that jets can actually have a proper dog fight few thousend feet in the air.

and as for choppers, think stingers should be more effective towards them, but also think choppers from long distances should be more effective, for example in real life, a chopper would come up from a mile away and obliterate vehicles on a battlefield (tanks etc) and not bother chasing a single soldier, where as instead there just used to fly to bases and kill infantry and even then stingers at close range barely disable them

They do 45% damage, not enough to disable in one hit

About a an hour ago, i hit a jet twice with stingers, didnt even pop flares, doubt he (or she) had them equipped, doesnt need to have them equipped anymore if it takes at least 3 to take them down from full health.

Dice in "ballsing up patch" shocker. This is what they get for having a stiffy for everything NEEDING to be an unlock. If Jets and Helo's had flares by default i doubt the stinger drama would have been much to write home about.

But no, dice had to stick with their litle unlock chubby and because of that airpower is getting overpowered.

Tried playing for the first time since the patch tonight and I can't get on, I keep getting disconnected by punkbuster. Anyone know the work around for this?
It really is crap that they can just break games that you have paid for like this.

Ive seen people saying the same thing along the lines of "one man shouldn't be able to take down an aircraft". Weirdly enough though im sure that was the whole point of the stinger missile. Yet some people can't get that into their heads.

Was it though? 64 players in a game, 32 in a team, split equally between classes = 8 people who can use stingers. Bearing in mind you get 2 jets and one attack chopper in a 64 player game, having 8 potential stingers (plus the AA tank) would make it pointless to have aircraft if it was that easy to take them down.

DICE obviously bore in mind how massively overpowered jets and choppers were in BF2 and took steps to try and fix that. I've never yet had that BF2 experience of being totally shredded by air power.

Operation Firestorm is now a aircraft only map, you own the sky, you own the map.
Been on it twice since patch, for a total of about 3 mins i reckon, got in a tank twice, got taken out from the air twice.
Previous visits pre-patch, taken out from the air ZERO times.
Wonder whats different??

The questions you want to ask are "Where was the AA tank, and where was the stationary AA?".

keep getting disconnected from server, kicked every time i play a map - any ideas? lots of suggestions on google about punkbuster but ive reinstalled that etc. Only happened since patch update..

Was it though?

Yes

You will eventually, ive read plenty of posts about attack helicopters tearing up maps now virtually unhindered by missiles.

Depends on the map and the size of the map, 32 players theyre not on maps from what ive seen, 64 theyre there but it all depends if the guy driving them has a clue what he's doing, a lot of the time they just seem to stay in the back out of the way.

Anyone tried playing this game with lowest details? People are soo much easier to spot and the game still looks good tbh.

I have a good pc GTX480 i5 2500k and i've just been playing full details from the start. On low I can stick V-Sync on and people are easier to spot. But obviously doesn't look as good but surprised how good it goes look for what is meant to be low.

No mobile AA on normal CQ and the stationary AA since the patch has just become a " lose your accuracy % " effort in futility. Dont play 64 player CQ as the maps just arent big enough.

Just spent another few minutes in the stationary AA and still did not hit a jet.
A few minutes in the AA and another 0.2 off my accuracy.
It was around 14% and ever since i have been trying to hit a jet with AA, bear in mind these jets arent far away, some are really close and still no hit marker. My accuracy is now down to 12.1 %
They changed the physics of the AA fire and now the rounds do not connect with any jet. Get in an AA and see for yourself, i'm not making this up. It wasn't easy to hit jets with the stationary AA anyway but now its nigh on impossible.
They increased the AA rating against infantry but accidentally nerfed it against aircraft.
Its an anti-aircraft gun for christs sake.

I'm not sure why you think one man should be able to take down a jet/chopper. That would make them ridiculously vulnerable and pretty much pointless. One man can't take down a tank or LAV with ease. I'm not saying the aircraft have it hard, but expecting one man to take one out with a weapon which effectively kills in two hits is a bit far fetched.

And what happened to the chopper on the defending team? That's either a team fail or an extremely good chopper/gunner combo. You can't nerf something just because a small number of people are extremely good with them. The only time I've had a problem with an enemy jet was when the pilot was a total **** and made a point of taking out our jet right after it spawned. That's a "guy being a prat and an admin not paying attention" problem.

Comes back to my last point. If your team is rubbish, that's not a reason to nerf the chopper. If the pilot/gunner are great, that's again not a reason to nerf it. There have never been more options to take down aircraft in the game, and jets are far less effective against the ground than they were when they had bombs.
