*****Official Star Wars: The Old Republic Thread*****

I've never played an mmo before so I wasn't sure what to expect and I thought it was really dire when I first put it on. It started to grow on me though and I'm really enjoying it now so I just pre-ordered. Finished tython as a jedi knight and have just started as a sith inquisitor which is quite good, the early abilities of the inquisitor are much more fun than a jedi knight imo. I think I'll go with consular for the main game.

Everyone is entitled to their opinion but 4 minutes? 4 minutes can make or break a game for you. THough I suppose thats quite a while to some people :D:p:D

Normally no. And I know in this case my (over)reaction is excessive. Normally I give a game a proper go. I persevered with Fallout 3, and the game richly rewarded me for doing so.

As a poster above said, this game was never going to be kotor. And I guess some part of me hoped it would be, at least a little. I just had a visceral reaction to the way the game dumped me into this ugly, apparently barren, world.

I had hoped that if EA and Bioware *had* to go down the MMO route they would at least provide sufficient abstraction for players who just wanted to play it like it was a largely single player game.

But then no game is for everyone :-)

Harsh Imperial Agent Sniper bug I just got. Was in a Warzone (the one where you blast doors open). I was in cover on a round change, when I get into round 2 my character is stuck in cover and no abilities work. Had to wait until the other team blasted through the doors before I could kill myself as the other team just ignored me :p

Have to log off now :( Did some PvP it was really good fun. So, good I could probably level up jsut by it! Which would be a shame as the story lines are rather good.

Think I likes the BH/Trooper best. The IA was fun but not sure how it would work in PvP. The cover system wont work as you have to keep moving.

Ok so for a beta client running debuging and logging tools in the background
here this with every mmo... retail launch never has any magical performance boost.

if you bothered to listen and turn off fanboy mode for a few post you might understand its not the actual fps people are concerned about its how the game looks yet is more demanding than bf3 and skyrim on graphics cards...

how many people posted in here asking why the game makes there gpu hotter than bf3 does? quite a few....... logging tools and debugging code have no effect on gpus at all and most people have cpus more than able to handle the extra load.
and this phase of beta clearly being mentioned as a stress test and your claiming the engine isnt optimised and that a stress test is a demo!?
its a simulation of the games launch this is how the game will be at launch so yes i have every right to post my views...
Seriously, if you hate this game that much, just uninstall and move away from this thread and stop trolling.

Your actually becoming very boring to read.
guess this is your first mmo, those of us who have

Managed to get hold of permanent beta access.

Playing my Jedi Consular, being a dark *****.

Level 16, enjoying it. Really good fun, the eseless was good aswell.

Also, Orange Lightsabers are epic, as will be my red one. mwahaha

(yes I am republic)

Wish I could get perma beta access, my graphics card is delivered the day after my access ends! :(

If you actually fill in the questions they ask you, you have a good chance.

However I didnt even do any of them... they just gave it to me. No email or nothing aswell.

Also this game is a serious time sink... done 14 hours yesterday....

How do you know you have it then?

Also I might be so inclined to let you use mine, I wont really play it all that much.

If you want of course.

Thats a very kind offer mate, I'm not really after playing for long, I wanna save quests.stories etc.. for the main game more the curiosity/reassurance of how it will run!

Be careful.. I made these changes and the game crashed on startup... and continued crashing until I removed them again.
It's the line for adding AA thats likely crashing you, AA seems to crash the game for some people using AMD cards and apparently was doing it when it was enabled via the ingame menu before they removed it too.

Is there any chance of still getting full beta access?

At this point i'd doubt it, we're only 3 weeks from launch now and i imagine they already have loads for general testing as is.

Did the Hammer point and Athiss flashpoints yesterday and I am slightly disappointed.

Black talon was great and the way the story lead you through was very different and unique. However with Hammer station and Athiss there is very little storyline involved and no dialogue throughout the whole flashpoints. Although the difficulty is much greater and better than BT.

Really hope that there are more story focused flashpoints later on.

Oh and those arguing about graphics. Some areas do appear quite limited but the design in Hammer station is amazing and one bit even made me go wow :)
