The Walking Dead Season 2.

Shane was right. Although he is a bit bad. He does make sense a lot of the time. One of the more interesting characters too. without him there wouldnt be much drama. most of them are a bit stale

Not quite sure what you guys are expecting from this. Some kind of zombie brawl in every episode? The series has always been about surviving and life in a zombie apocalypse, not how many heads can be caved in.

Obviously not expecting massive zombie slayage every week but neither are we expecting eastenders every week.

I think the main problem is that they've written themselves into a bit of a hole, there's not really any goal or drive to the show, fair enough they have the continuing saga of not finding the girl but, other than that, they're just milling about much like the zombies.

Of course, the realistic thing is exactly this, they'd hole up somewhere nice and secluded where there's plenty of supplies and they don't have to constantly fend of zombie attacks. Unfortunately the realistic approach is bloody boring.

Mmm i think you've hit the nail on the head, there doesn't seem to be an end goal. In many ways TWD reminds me of the first season of SGU before it was cancelled.

So much focus is put on just 'surviving', making it from one day to the next. I look at shows like SGU, BSG and LOST. all of these had survival elemens, but they did manage to get some exploration done at the same time.

They've mentioned this Fort Bennett. It's like some vague goal of 'yeah we might want to check it out' rather than 'our goal is to reach fort bennett'.

The entire series feels lt's stuck in the mud, without gaining any traction. The frustrating thing with the show is that all of the ingredients are there to actually get the plot moving, they just haven't been acted on.

That is the thing though. It's an apocalypse. The main goal is just that. SURVIVAL.

Yes, the show would maybe appeal to a wider audience if it was a case of them travelling around slaying zombies and non stop action. But that's not what this show is about. The show is about the human survivors and how they react to the very different world they now find themselves living in.

An all-out zombie-killing bloodbath is not what most of us want either though. The main complaint is that the show had a better pace and storyline in the six episodes of season 1 than it has in 7 episodes of season 2. Granted, S2 is 13 episodes so that does afford them some extra time to pad things out, slow it down and not rush, but they seem to have gone almost from one extreme to the other.

I think a lot of people (myself included, to be fair) need to go back and watch S1 again during this hiatus to see what it was actually like. It's undeniable though that so much more happened, each episode felt like real progress. S2 seems to have managed to stretch out the search for Sophia whilst simultaneously demonstrating the miraculous rapid healing abilities of Carl. It's made it difficult to get a feel for how much time has passed.

It's still good and well-worth watching, but I think for a lot of people it's not quite what was expected after seeing the first season.

SPOILER SPOILER SPOILER only read this post if you are aware of the conclusion of the sophia storyline!!!

for those who meet above criteria, what did you think of the episode? i thought the scene where she comes out the barn was the best moment of the season so far, maybe of the series

Sadly, I am done with this thread.

Sick and tired of people not following only rules, but also the simple requests of other members, and also the blatant pirating.

Sick of it, if this was a thread about me watching a screener/playing the latest game before release with no proof I had a legit copy it would be locked.

I'm with you on this, don't step into these threads anymore unless i've checked out the latest episode.

Their is flagrant disregard for rules lately and the mods simply do not seem to give a flying...!

Unless of course it's a series a mod is interested in, there is very selective moderating going on over the last few weeks/months.

The last episode redeemed itself and the previous few episodes quite a bit. Enjoyable end, shame there's a gap in the middle, and quite a long one at that imo.

It was amazing how clearing a jam in a pistol suddenly makes you an expert marksman also :p

All out zombie slaying is not what's needed. Just a bit more pace and stop dragging this lost kid thing out...

And 3 episodes to open a barn...come on.

Is like dragon ball z back in the days of youth.

Whole series covering a fight between good guy and bad guy. One fight.

To be fair, I can't disagree with any of that.

To be frank, just surviving..is boring and makes for dull tv. As has been said before it's like watching Eastenders but with the odd zombie.

LOST had aspects of survivial but it coupled it with exploration and mystery.

BSG also handled the issues of basic survival in it's first season (and did it very well) but again it also had the mystery of the overall mythology and political story.

Personal opinions aside, imagine what the above shows would have been like if they had just involved the characters staying put to survive without taking any risks to explore. They would have been pretty dull.
