Guys, any suggestions on what my mate should upgrade on his pc to sort the lag spikes? It’s generally ok when running around, but 50% of the time when you come to shoot someone it lags which is more than a little annoying.
He will be upgrading gpu/ram/mb/cpu in a few months, but just wondering if it’s worth getting the vid card now.

core2duo E6600 (2.4 GHz)
8800 GTX
2 gig ram

He has around 150 for the card, prob get a i5 later on

Me and greebo dominated :D, awesome tank team work

It was indeed and very enjoyable. Would have been even better if my Engi had repair as well but I was on mines as trying to star up my mines before the patch nerfs them.

Still with you repairing, us swapping seats as and when, me jumping out and running off to kill enemy engineers before they repair their tank or guys sneaking up to plant c4 or rpg us (managed to get a few tags from engineers lining up rpg shots not expecting the gunner had done a runner from our tank ;)) and firing the odd rpg, it worked great.

I think we only finally died when we had been heavily hurt by a tank and a plane/heli at the same time and a mortar finished us off just as you had started repairing us :(

I cant see a new GFX card making much difference as it may well be bottlenecked by the CPU, overclocking it may help. I'd go with a GFX card and some ram and OC the CPU

Am i missing something with the jet's guided missile or are they just garbage?
I guess SOFLAM would help but why would i give up my rocket pods for it? In case somebody decides to use SOFLAM?
Trying to target something on the ground is hard enough without worrying about choppers and jets in the air too. Changed back to rocket pods quick sharpish :)

I use rocket pods on servers with 3d spotting on and guided missiles that don't as I can't see stuff on the ground to shoot otherwise.

With regards to turning in the jet I have found an exploit where if you press the after burner for split second then brake for a split second and keep cycling between them whilst moving the mouse your turns get tighter and tighter until you spin rediclously fast - 360 in about .5 seconds and you can dodge missiles and enemy jets with ease. It is a bit tricky to get the hang of but once you have you can open some whoop ass! As for joystick pilots, lol easy meat!

I came from that exact spec to my current (in sig).

He should be able to clock his e6600 passed 2.4 comfortably which should help a little. He should get 2.8-3.2 with little hassle.

Same with the GTX overclock that if it hasnt been using rivatuner or whatever,

Does anyone else have problems when connecting for the first time, had this problem since day one. Gives a BF3 has stopped working error and then seems to work when I try to connect again.

I usually get a "You have been disconnected from Ea Online" message on first attempt, after that it works fine.

GPU = 560Ti, 2GB more ram & overclock that CPU to 3ghz> should see improvments.

The guided missile is quite good when you couple it with beam-scanning - really reduces the time taken to lock on!

The only downside with it is that obviously it takes your eyes away from where you're flying, got to have your wits about you ;)

Guided missile is a waste of time in my opinion. Rocket POD's are awesome once you get the hang of them.

Well well.... Smogsy just told me Lander was auto banned of his server for hacks!

This is the screenshot...

Currently trying to search for his GUID on PPBans:

EA_83D319D6BA0D7FA876FC70CF9710D54C.... The GUID that we get from clanforge is usually completely different the one's beginning with EA

I was on the server at the time I think and thought "that's odd superlander has just disappeared"
