Right, the second your ark says you can buy the tech blueprints you get the option to buy a sub. Go back to your ark and look at the top left of its ui and you'll see an option to buy a sub right where the 'unlock tech' button was.

Aha, knew there must have been a way around it, thanks for that :) On another random note, just found the fast forward button \o/

Yeah isnt it handy :p If you hold down numpad + it works as well. I keep trying to do it in mp when waiting for ships :/

Another quick note that was mentioned a while back. We dont have access to stone pier blocks through the menu. Although a purely cosmetic thing a lot of people like them. You can get them by using the dropper tool on an npcs dock areas, they usually have them built.

That would be good if I had NPC docks on my map - I just have their arks, ships etc :)

Okay a little stuck... started a new continuous game, but only had the Eco and Tycoon NPC vendor arks in the area this time, whereas last time I had those two plus the Tech ark guy. So I set up and reach engineers in my city and get it all sorted, then start on my Tech area so I can start looking into 3d projectors... then it hits me.

I have no carbon to make a submarine to start an underwater warehouse, and to make carbon you need oil. I don't have tycoon tech until executives therefore I need an oil platform which requires an underwater warehouse. Last time I just bought carbon from the Tech ark to get me going, but this time I don't have him on... basically to make carbon, I need carbon :p

Just trade what you need i.e. buy them from the NPCs. I don't remember having a problem getting carbon, but maybe I got some through a quest without realising, thereby kickstarting the whole thing.

If you've unlocked Tech buildings etc at your Ark you can order a submarine from there. You only need Tools and Building Block thingies to build an underwater warehouse.

EDIT: too late :)

Thanks both anyway :)

Ended up starting a different map anyway, the island that I was on and the placement of others coupled with their fertility wasn't great, so picked another that was more suitable. Already bought my Ocean Glider on the new map so back to where I was. Just me also or is the Ocean Glider vastly better than the Commando Ship? as soon as I got it I just destroyed my Commando.

The ocean glider doesn't have any weapons though, does it?

Can't login at the moment :(

Ah yeah forgot about no guns, only been playing peaceful continuous so barely any hostiles :) Also yeah the Ubisoft servers have been playing up this afternoon, was down for a while... not sure if scheduled.

See this is what pees me off. I had that a few times recently. Most noticably when I went to play mp with a friend. I mean seriously if you're going to insist on always on internet for 90% of the features, at least have multiple backup servers!

Careful though, if you accept quests then some require at least a little fire power :)

Yeah, bugs me a little too. I like the online features, but they really need to sort their servers.

It is really annoying yeah, although doubley so for multiplayer (granted I don't play but I can imagine it being so). Plus with Ark storage and slottable items going through Ubisoft I'd imagine you lose access to those? although I never checked when it went down, just came to mind right now. I'm guessing adding/removing items to/from the Ark also goes through Ubisoft even when you're online as the lag when adding/removing is nasty. As you say, they really should have back up servers.

Aye, although most of time with 2x 30% speed boosts you can just run around the enemy ship as they are really slow. Never found any other vehicle upgrades worth using yet most of them aren't great.

Yup completely. So if I have an ark item which boosts one of my power plants, or increases storage capacity, those would then affect my game a lot if the servers died and my ark stopped being accessable...

Does post processing make this game look worse? I have it on maximum, but the game looks a little to grainy. The screenshots in the reviews look much better than what I am seeing.

Any clues as to what these do: "Toll Ware <item>", "Levies Duties on trade at the Warehouse above a certain quantity of goods". In this case it's "5t Service Bots" and starting at 20t.

Indeed, they are awesome. Socket it in your warehouse and for every 20 of anything you sell, even building blocks, you will be gifted 5 bots. Basically if you sell them you make loads more money on top, or it can boost your production.

How do I get that?

Metal converters are an insane way to make money. One of my underwater island black smokers went out and left a uranium deposit (unlimited too)...that stuff sells for a small fortune!

Hmm.. still a bit confused about them. So if I have say Island B making bots for Island A, and there's a ship in between, when that boat carries 20t or more of bots from B to A it'll turn into 25 bots if the item is socked at A? Basically just looking to increase production with it if that's possible, as I'm kinda rolling in money at the moment :) hard to spend it other than spamming item refresh at the NPC Arks :p

Just got it randomly from a quest, but I do see them cropping up at one of the NPC Arks from time to time, granted this is the first time I've seen one for bots.
