****The Official Samsung Galaxy S II Thread***

oL that echo problem with cases is a nightmare

my dad went through all the fixes/mods etc and whilst some made it a little bit better it still wasn't perfect.

he now has a tiny piece of black tape stuck over the noise cancelling mic on the top (its hardly visible due to the case anyway) .

works perfect now.

can't believe that fault never got spotted during testing though. surely someone somewhere tested one with an official case on ?

Have a look on XDA there is a mod to disable it.

ICS (CM9*) might be here this week!!!

Now with much more IceCream on my Sandwich!
Let me have a look at my visionarys orb.

I can see…
- Kernel 3.0.9
- New RIL (doesn’t work with old modem firmwares)
- TouchWiz (i still hate it, doesn’t feel good, stock aosp ics feels much better)
- Opencore is finally gone
- looks cleaner under the hood
- still old alsa, not the new tinyalsa
- users won’t be impressed

Now let me watch on my device…
- aosp framework
- graphics seems to work good
- it has sound, but cannot test mic beacuse of ril problems
- ril isn’t working very good, crashing all the time. might need to add a new samsung ril class like in the past
- gps seems to work
- hwcomposer is running
- camera is running
- bluetooth works
- wifi works
- sensors aren’t working yet, but should be no problem
- usb sharing works

Ok, too much said already.

No, sammobile didn’t help. Dunno where it came from, but it is here.
Without my lawyer you’ll not get anything out of me now!

Having Kernel sources would make it much easier, but that’s probably far away.
Stay tuned! Maybe we get ril fixed in a few days then we got something really amazing and clean for you.

Everyone who wants something that's near perfect with no added carp. :p:D

Think you are getting your wires crossed = Stock = Samsung Stock ROM.

CM9 ASOP Google Stock ROM.

Samfirmware have/will leak the Samsung ICS but the guys from CM7/CM9 only need the libs to be able to release their version.

Mine does not seem to charge while it is powered on anymore, the battery continues to depletes even though it says its charging. If I power it off it charges fine.

The only thing that seems to have changed is I am low on internal storage, would this make a difference.

It's possible to expend more power than incoming if you run wifi + ap + gps + screen on or if you use a USB charger (500mA) then gps + screen can exceed input from my testing of an SGS2 if it helps. Being low on space affects no part of the charge circuit though.

Random question but is there any way to stop the music player from kicking in whenever I plug in the headphones? Driving me nuts as even if it doesn't start playing straight away it'll keep popping up when I'm using another app (particularly doggcatcher) forcing me to go into task manager and force close.

Can I remove it completely maybe and install something else in its place?

Which music player are you using? If its poweramp then yes you can - settings > misc > headset > resume on headset connection
