What film did you watch last night?

Contagion and Inbetweeners.

Many laughs in the latter, many serious thoughts in the former should we ever have a similar virus outbreak. Day 1 was what I was waiting for too and it's easy to imagine such a thing happening!

I kind of expected it to turn out a particular way half way through but it didn't which was refreshing as it didn't stick to the expected plot paths of other disaster/outbreak movies typical of Hollywood.

Twilight: Breaking Dawn - 4/10

Went to the cinema last night with the girlfriend to see this. Awful movie, I even quite enjoyed two of the other ones, but this was the slowest paced by far, and the first half of the movie was all about the main characters wedding, with nothing of interest happening at all.

Inbetweeners Movie as I didnt see it in the cinema, thought it was brilliant, some really laugh out loud moments which I find movies hard to do for me lately.

8.5/10

The Fighter - Rags to riches boxing drama, what makes it different are the characters, the main character played by Mark Wallberg is nice enough but his family are horrendous! His crack addict brother (Chritian Bale) and mother are played so well. His six or seven sisters are just grim. Enjoyed. 4/5

Mongol - 5/10

Basically the early life of Gengis Kahn. Clearly had a big budget, but seemed to skip out on so much.

example:

1. armies meet on battle field
2. ???
3. Gengis Kahn wins

WHY!? Show me the battle ffs.

Had potential, but seriously missed a trick or two

In Time - 6/10: The idea is that you age until 25 years old, once you reach this age you have 1 year of 'time' left of your life and no longer age.

You can earn more time by working and gambling, and you can also loose this time by spending and buying goods etc. Everything is brought by time, e.g. a cup of coffee to paying bills etc.

I thought the idea was good and it developed into some more social class levels more then anything. With the rich living forever and the poor not being able to afford to eat and pay bills thus die.

I think they could have gone a bit deeper with the story line of how things ended up this way but that's mainly thoughts on the idea of the film.

Fast Five - 5/10 - a lot of people told me this film was supose to be good? Surely the left their brain at home when they went to see this in the cinema?

this is a massively dumb movie! I spent half of the time thinking "what he heck is happening" and the rest of it dumstruck amazed that normal physics dont apply in this film. Dragging a 10 ton Vault at outrages speeds though a city? yea of course thats possible! I could barley here Vin Diesel in this film could the director told him just to speak a little bit more cearly instead of mumbling? THIS ISNT RIDDICK VIN!

The inbweteeners 7/10 - Pleasnt enough simple film that got some laughs nothing challening or witty about it, its easy to switch of your mind viewing i can think of many many worse uses of 90 mins

Yep, quite a few people I know were raving about it. Watched it, was pretty bad and I even found it a little bit cringe/cheesy. Shame because I thought it had the potential to be really good!

Over the past couple of weeks :p

The Debt - 8/10 - Quite enjoyed this one :)
Puncture - 9/10
Straw Dogs - 6/10 - Doesn't really get going until towards the end
In Time - 9/10 - Love the concept, really enjoyed this one
Cowboys and Aliens - 5/10 - Good idea, not executed too well
30 Minutes or Less - 8/10
Rise of the planet of the Apes - 10/10
Columbiana - 9/10
Twighlight - 0/10 - I just can't get away with this turd. Actually left my mates house when they were insistent on watching it

Sympathy for Mr Vengence - 8/10 - Starts very slow but then almost from nowhere..... BAM!

My flatmate had never seen it and claimed foreign films could never be gripping because of subtitles. He has now been corrected and tomorrow night is Oldboy and I Saw The Devil :)

Burn After Reading - 8.5/10 Really enjoyed this film very big lebowski esque in some ways then realised after watching it that it was a Coen Brothers films so explains why!

Truly awesome film, has my favourite Coen Brother's scene

CIA Superior: What did we learn, Palmer?
CIA Officer: I don't know, sir.
CIA Superior: I don't ******' know either. I guess we learned not to do it again.
CIA Officer: Yes, sir.
CIA Superior: I'm ****** if I know what we did.
CIA Officer: Yes, sir, it's, uh, hard to say
CIA Superior: Jesus ******* Christ.

That basically sums up the film. I watched it ages ago and didn't really "get it".
