The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim announced

ok, enjoying it until about 5 mins ago.

I have just completed the Golden Claw quest, and upon returning to Riverwood it appears that everyone wants to kill me.

I've not killed anyone that I shouldn't, just people on the quest or anyone that attacked me while I was walking about (a fire mage) but that is it.

Any ideas? :(

EDIT: it appears after a google that I made the common mistake of killing one of their chickens! :S

How random, just had a cat thief come up to me in full glass armour and hand me 500coins referring to me as nightingale, bit strange as i finished the those quests a long time ago and this is the first of this encounter

Not that im complaining if people want to give me coin then so be it :D

that fella came up to me and tried to mug me. i had a go at intimidating him but it didn't work, but then i had an option to remind him of my guild allegiances.

he apologised and walked off. nice.

still, that glass armour was a bit too tasty for me not to take so i just stuck an arrow in the back of his head and made off with his loot.

never trust the guild.

any tips for someone just starting out? Just arrived at the first village, not really my type of game but everyone is raving about it :)

Don't bother buying a horse, you can walk faster.

Leveling smithing is simple, get leather strips and iron to make lots of daggers.

Save all the enchanted weapons/armour you find and break them down at an enchanters table, sell the repeaters for £££.

learn what ingredients do by eating them, then get making health pots.

Shops replenish their goods every 48 hours.

The biggest tip I can give you is to explore and have fun !. You never know what you might come across in the next cave or abandoned fort that you find.

I've had 2-3 people run up to me while i'm casually walking about to give me bottles of wine and weapons. They have all said the same thing, "hold on to that, i'll be back for it later". :) It's very strange, although none of them have been wearing glass armour.

It happens more frequently if you take the time to restore the Thieves guild to its 'former' glory.

Full glass armour? He'd be dead the moment he turned his back!

I've only ever had the Fugitive do that (and he does it at the most inconvenient times sometimes). Still its usually a decent enchanted item.

Has anyone met Deep-In-His-Cups yet? He just suddenly appeared as i was wandering through some woods and started dialogue, apparently he appears after you do the 'night to remember' quest, but i did that about 60 hours ago and forgot all about it. These things are a nice touch

Hi all, think i may have missed something. I have only done some Whiterun and accidentally ended up in Markrath, level 15, how do i charge soul gems? I need those to recharge magical weapons right?

WOW, smithing is where its at!!!
just got my smithing level right up(made hundreds of daggers, rings etc) now the powerful weapons come! just have to work on enchanting now and i'll be unstopable.

Was he the 1 who demanded 10,000 for sending him into some bandit camp? He swiftly met the end of my sword!

Select them in the inventory, press T to charge, then choose a soul gem. Don't waste the good ones here, just lose petty and lesser gems. Save the others for enchanting.

Cast soul trap on an enemy or enchant/buy an item with soul trap. The effect on weapons is usually very short duration but it doesn't matter since it would kill and capture regardless so long as you land the finishing blow with it. The spell is pretty expensive to cast without at least some points in conjuration and Apprentice Conjuration perk.

easiest way i found was getting the perk that lets your conjured blades automatically trap souls. saves a lot of time and those conjured blades aren't too shabby, especially early on

Well there is that approach but it depends on how you plan on building your character since it'll take 3 perks to reach it.

Looking at the damage they deal they are actually pretty strong early on. Bound Sword w/ Mystic is equivalent to a Daedric Sword, Bound Battleaxe isn't that good as its equivalent to a Glass Battleaxe but Bound Bow is significantly better than a Daedric Bow and comes with a load of Bound Arrows which are equal to Daedric Arrows (which you are almost never going to be using since I'm sticking with Iron Arrows for general usage).

Battleaxe is quite a poor choice full stop, Sword is probably good until you can start using something like Skyforge Steel with Exquisite smithing upgrades where it'll become quite weak by comparison but the Bound Bow is probably superior until much later on. It'll still be a waste of perks though if you ever plan to use regular weapons at some point.
