What film did you watch last night?

The remake of The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo, twas awesome and captured the mood of the book perfectly.

Have you seen the Swedish version? If so how does this compare?
I've not read the book but found the Swedish film quite good.

Just back from seeing Mission Impossible: Ghost Protocol. Great film, awesome fun. Highly recommended.

I agree, I saw it on Boxing day and thought it was well paced.

Inbetweeners Movie. I actually quite like the first two seasons on TV but was pretty borred of it by the third and that boardom continued throughout the whole of this film. Slow and awkward, but not in a funny way. 3/10

Contagion 5/10
plenty of decent actors just a bit predictable and slow :(

It's less that its predictable, though it is, its more that nothing happens, while lots of stuff was hinted at happening. Not a single character had that involvement that made you give a damn, think outbreak as a comparison, he was chased, you actually saw him do research and talk about the research beyond a cage with a dead monkey in.

As with SO many films lately while the world dies(ish) nothing actually really happens to the majority of characters, there was no personal info about really a single character in it, just utterly devoid of content.

2/10

Super 8 - I wasn't expecting much tbh but I loved it. Reminded me of movies like Goonies and E.T. 8/10

Same, I was expecting, badness, Abrams AND kids in one film, thought the chances were slim to none of it being good. But it was, good characters, good dialogue, good action and plenty of things actually happen in the film. Sure its full of plot holes but the kids could actually act, with the girl disturbingly good in the shooting the movie scenes. Maybe due to low expectations but it was mostly brilliant.
8 or 9/10

Retreat: Blu ray.

A couple visit a remote Scottish island in search of solace following a miscarriage, but unfortunately for them things take a turn for the sinister.

Neat little UK thriller this and worth a watch imo, features Jamie Bell aka Billy Elliott and also Thandie Newton who I've seen and enjoyed watching numerous times, both are excellent in this.

Super 8 - For me, I gave it a 4/10, I really didn't enjoy it in the slightest.

Not sure why, but all throughout it just didn't pull me in, the train wreck scene was terrible!

Oh, I hate E.T and the goonies, in fact any film with kids in I tend to hate.

Bah humbug!

No i hav'nt seen the original swedish films for the stupid reason that the actor that portrays Blomkvist i feel is not right.

Unstopable.

Finaly got around to watching it. My type of film, but there's been far better fims of the type, needed a little bit more of an edge. Allright i guess, just a bit middle of the road, and tony seems to out do himself with the rotating camera shots and ott's with the hele's again.

The Girl With the Dragon Tattoo (the new one)

Great film, would encourage others to see it. However, there are some pretty horrific scenes of sexual violence so it's not for the faint hearted. Be careful who you watch it with.
Tbh I bet most people who watch this will have either read the book(s) and/or seen the Swedish version and know what to expect.

Going watching this in about 30 mins, hope it's as good as the book and the swedish film :)

I didn't think it was as good as the Swedish film.

That isn't to say it's a bad film, it's not, it's good, it's classy and has a very good visual and audio style which is what I expect from a D Fincher movie. However, it was a film that just didn't need remaking. The Swedish "originals" are magnificent.
