****The Official Samsung Galaxy S II Thread***

Just getting round to flashing my phone now,

Whats the best custom rom to go with at the moment for stability or would I be better holding off until Stable ICS roms come out?

Hdmi on cm9 would be awesome.

I just had a blast around CM9 and I have to say it's looking very good. Animations are smooth, everything appears to be there but HDMI output does not work yet. It recognises that the MHL dongle is connected because the screen autorotates (you can't disable this it seems) and the battery starts charging too but no display on the TV.

Bugs I noticed in this 'Alpha':
- Camera works but not many options, can't change photo resolution.
- Camera glitches out sometimes and stops working.
- Video playback is sketchy, some MP4 files I had would not play.
- The built in Gallery app will not display media stored on the internal memory, I thought for a moment it had wiped internal mem but after installing QuickPic I realised this was not the case :p
- Autobrightness does not work. I imagine most sensors will be dodgy in the Alpha anyway though.
- The audio for ringtones/notifications/alarms etc appear to be stored in a different place now as my usual location that GB uses (sdcard/audio/ringtones etc) will not list them when you go to select a tone in settings.

A new version of CWM 5.5.0.4 is installed by CM9 as well. The dialler supports T9 search, YAY! It does not however take you to a contact's details page when you click on the contact, it merely does what Samsung's TW dialler does,. it fills the dial box with the default phone number for that contact. Booo!

I have a question, how do you browse the recent list of opened apps in ICS? long pressing home obviously launches the task manager. I will be using GoLauncherEX anyway though when this goes stable and ICS support is wide so I can use Go's Recent tab in the app tray but obviously that's not as useful as long pressing home to get to recent apps when you're in the middle of another app.

The browser is superb in ICS, it's just vastly better for slickness and usability compared to any other stock phone browser on any platform that I've used.

I've restored back to CheckROM for now though, IMO it's a fine ROM with the ICS 1.7.2 theme on top.

Just flashed the KP8 4.0.3 ROM and everything seems great, except when scrolling a webpage or though settings the screen does'nt move much with each flick of the thumb, feels like i'm using a iphone but worse.

I'm not touching CM9 nightlies/alpha as my compiled CM7 is perfect at the moment and I can't be faffing around with CM9 until it's mostly sorted.

Unless you don't need a wipe, but I would bet money that you do :(

I just put KP8 on and I don't have any slow scrolling in settings?

Can someone with go launcher try pressing their app drawer button lightly and see if it opens the drawer? I find I have to press harder/longer to get it to open. It isn't like that on the old sgs. Maybe I'm missing a setting or found a gs2 bug?

No issues here, even the lightest touch from the smallest part of my finger activates it.

How can I get my S2 unlocked? Orange want £20.42 which is a crazy amount of money and I don't really want to pay that much.

I have tried some Sim Unlock app from marketplace but that hasn't worked, said it couldn't find it.
For some reason I thought it was already unlocked and I am going on holiday Tuesday so could do with it being done by then. I plan on buying a sim card whilst away so it works out cheaper than using my own plan.

What is the best ROM to be running for this? I'm currently running 2.3.4 (stock Samsung). I know its mostly down to personal opinion but there must be some stable releases :)

Voodoo LOUDER

Has anyone tested to see if this works?
Reviews look good

If you wanna go deaf, sure :) - my S II is loud enough for me, this app would make it insanely loud!

I follow the dev on Twitter, he is a genius with sound and Android. He wouldn't have developed an app that didn't do what it advertised.

You know different headphones have different resistances?
