Oh mr purple, is that why my laptop is broke?

I worked for them a long time ago when I was in school. One christmas we had a selling point of 'wirelessly powering your christmas tree lights' on a tower. :p

Don't be too harsh on the purple shirts, there is a LOT of pressure to sell extras. If you don't sell cover with a computer you get a bollocking off the manager, can be a miserable place to work.

Oh I can understand pressure to sell extended warranties and other such as that's normal at a lot of shops, however trying to tell someone a laptops warranty is no longer valid due to a virus or other such BS is inexcuseable.

And illegal?

I buy from them when the prices are good, and unless there PC cost £20 my place has to send to the manu, which for a Tosh lappy saved me a few bob =]

Other than that Pets at Home are more technically adept than my lot

For a sheer laugh I told a guy in there I was looking for a PSU for my SLI 580 rig. Tried to tell me that 400w was the strongest supply you could buy and could easily power the computer.... Plonks...

Am I just getting confused or that Quad-Core pic, does it not say above and below the red oval AMD Athlon X2 7550 DUAL-CORE processor?

They're giving reasons why you should upgrade to a quad, which no doubt will be stupidly expensive.

If a fault occurs after 7 days we used to send them to manufacturer's website and not exchange the product unless they could prove it was faulty at the time of purchase. Serious business fleecing people out of money. :)

If you have a reasonable bunch at your local store, then their "RMA" service is better than OcUK's or ANY online retailer's.

The reason i prefer buying larger things from them is because if something goes wrong, you take it to the store and they give you a new one straight away. Whereas with OcUK, you need to get a courier, then wait for it to comeback via DPD again, which is really time consuming.

The extended warranties are a lifesaver if you need something urgently. For example, my Dad always needs a laptop and he buys his stuff from PC world with extended warranties. Even the Dell next day business warranty isn't as good as theirs as you get a like for like replacement instantly.

For Christmas I got an iPad, I then spent the whole of Christmas Day evening trying to explain to my 90 year old Grandad what it was, what it does, how it gets online, what the internet is, and simply buying a computer will not get you the internet lol

That was 4 hours of fun

"So it's a computer?"
"Yes grandad, it can also send messages and make phonecalls via the internet"
So it's a phone?"
"No grandad, but it can do somethings that phones can do"

I love that purple place after my 4 bad laptops in 9 days i refuse to ever step foot in the door again.

Laptop 1: Missing key out the box and i kid you not i had 3 members of staff stood around the techidiot help desk trying to figure out were it had gone
Laptop 2: Screen didn't work at all and they suggested i take it apart to look for a bad connection :/
Laptop 3: Dead pixel group
Laptop 4: Hard drive was grinding its self to death ( I didn't actually leave that time i sat in my car and checked it all over and had a go before i left the car park )

Ended up with a full refund after a long argument with the manager who was 2 brain cells short of a plant :/ Tried offering me 50 pounds off a different model but i just couldn't be bothered

My suggestions: Go elsewere as there new partner in crime isnt any better either
