David Fincher’s The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo Trailer

im really disappointed that there is even a remake, people are lazy in not reading subtitles. the original is grainy and feels very good, the new one is going to be too glossy!

-The very final scene, urgh.
If it's the scene I think it is, that's almost exactly what happened at the end of the book. In fact, save for the bizarre switcheroo bit at the end (could they not afford to fly to Australia?! Or just out of time?), I thought this version was far closer to the book than the Swedish one.

Yes, I thought much the same. When Mikael said, 'Wait, Harriet?' I was trying to understand what was going on, because obviously that wasn't Harriet. :p

I still think the 'original' Swedish films were better.

Doesn't mean this is bad, just felt like a film that didn't need remaking.

Don't like Daniel Craig. Go watch the original, a brilliant film! :)

The Hollywood remake is just for those too lazy to watch subtitles!

Having seen both, being a bit of a filmy and a massive fan of the books. Can safely say the 'original' Swedish films are better :)

The Fincher remake certainly has a better visual style and feel, but it was a film that didn't need remaking.

Remakes like this are for people too stupid to read subtitles. There I said it.

See, now I thought the opposite. I thought too much of the plot was changed in the Swedish version. Probably because I watched it about a week after reading the book, just found myself saying "that's not what happened!" too much!

Nope, disagree. I like Finchers remake, it's very cinematic (Do we expect anything less from Fincher) and it oozes a certain style. I just don't think any of the other parts are as good as the 'original'.

Noomi Rapace is magnificent in the originals too. I think that yet again this is a foreign language film that just didn't need remaking. It's for people too stupid to read subtitles. Great shame.

Either way, I preferred the book to both films by a fair stretch. There's so much of what's going on in Lisbeth's head written in the book - which is hard to get across in film. And getting a ~500 page book into 2-2.5hrs is always going to leave a lot of the detail out!

I agree on that, J'adore the books. I really like Lisbeth as a character and in terms of how I imagined her, it was always more of a Noomi type.

Really do enjoy the books.

I didn't 'get' why they didn't go to Oz either :/

It was a good film - DC was much easier on the eye than the Swedish fellow!

Will be interested to see what the other two are like.

BB x

Not as good as the Swedish films which are brilliant.

The books are phenomenal too, well worth a read.

Not as good as the Swedish originals. Only big positives are the look of the film, the style and the cinematography. Which is kind of what you expect from a Fincher film, it's certainly going to look good.

That aside, the Swedish films are better, Noomi Rapace is magnificent as Lisbeth.

I'm not sure I get what you're trying to say here Tummy, any chance you could clarify please?
