****The Official Samsung Galaxy S II Thread***

I bought a 2000mAh battery from mobilefun.co.uk, I charged up while it was turned off to 100%. At first it was fine, then it randomly started resetting itself when it was idle (Twice in 3 hours), turning off and back on again when sitting on my desk. Left it overnight with no apps running and the battery drained from 70% to 20%, so I took the battery out and put the old 1 back in, turned it back on 2 minutes later, it freezes, the screen goes darker, lines appear across it (Red, green and blue, small vertical lines covering the screen), take the battery out since it won't turn off, then it won't turn back on again. Leave it for 5 minutes and it turns back on but then locks up 2 minutes later again. Do this multiple times, each time it freezes when trying to do anything at all (Even reset it). Do a factory reset holding the phone buttons down, 2 minutes later after turning on, it freezes again, lines across the screen.

I don't get this at all, it was fine before I put the new battery in. Can a new battery really screw the phone up? I don't understand.

Haven't rooted, default ROM.

Lots of bumpers available on eBay, I don't think Walnutt branded ones are there as they have to be bought from Korea and the site that did ship overseas doesn't list them any more. The Walnutt has a high quality feel to it, for just over £15 it should though. The ones on eBay are under a tenner but they should still do the job fine.

There is a seller selling what look like Walnutt bumpers £2.75. His name is wefixmacltd.

Just waiting for mine to arrive.

Is it best to charge the phone whilst off, or it doesnt matter?

Also, I had my number ported over from my old sim to my new one.

The port has been succesfull, but the phone still displays my new number (old is the correct one). Doesnt matter does it??

So it just turned off again randomly, left it and this is basically what it looks like:

Looks pretty broken to me.

Which battery was that? I'd be complaining quite strongly, though if it's not an official battery you may have issues getting anything other than an apology from the retailer. I guess you can try to get it repaired with Samsung.

i very much doubt the battery had anything to do with that. i wouldnt mention the battery, just speak to your provider / samsung as it should have at least a year's warranty anyway.

2 years, apparently.

It was perfectly fine before, I didn't even use it much that day, the only thing that changed was me putting in that new battery. Not sure whether to just complain to amazon and go for a new phone entirely.

coincidence surely, there is no reason the battery would cause that unless perhaps the voltage was abnormally high but the chances of that are extremely slim.

The phone is under warranty - its a hardware defect, just get it replaced.

It came this morning.

Its soft rubber which is good for grip but it is just too loose on the phone so moves when you hold. They should have made it a few millimeters tighter.

There isnt slots where the volume/power buttons but rather raised button molds, which are hard to use.

Is hard to recommend really, but I prefer it over my hard plastic bumper which makes the phone too bulky and slippery in the hand.
