What film did you watch last night?

Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides

I liked it in a meh kind of way if that makes sense? It was weird the film not having Bloom or Knightly in it but at the same time in terms of story it was probably better than the 2nd and 3rd films which they were both in. Cruz looked insanely hot throughout

7/10

The House of the Devil

Saw a trailer for this before watching another turdfest last week called Camp Hell which has Jesse Eissenberg as the top billed 'star'. He was only in it for about 5 minutes at a push.

Anyway, onto The House of the Devil. From the trailer it looked quite interesting. However my opinion based on the trailer couldn't have been more wrong. Slow, boring and fairly predictable is what it turned out to be.

2/10 and that is only because of the couple of good looking young women in it.

Are you seriously trying to tell me that that any of the Pirates movies (apart from the first), had any storyline to them? :D

Let me put it this way, I saw the 2nd Pirates movie in the cinema. If somebody had asked me, immediately after the movie what the story was, I would not have been able to tell you.

Real Steel

My wife and I watched this last night and we both thoroughly enjoyed it, yes its just a remake of Rocky but with robots thrown into the mix but it was still very enjoyable.

I cant put my finger on why we liked it as much as we did, maybe we were just in the right frame of mind to watch it.

8/10

Saw this one at the cinema some time ago.

An OK film RUINED by that child actor in it; completely mis-cast, horrible lines, terrible delivery and a character that I hated. Absolutely cringe worthy.

Some much wrong with that film.

3/10 at best. Highly predictable, weak story, some very poor characters and casting.

He's a lightweight. I've had viewing sessions which have lasted more than 24 hours...literally to the point where I passed out. :p

Not last night, but we've watched quite a few films recently:

1) Local Hero Nearly 30 years old and this is still my 2nd favourite of all time (next to Blade Runner) with an outstanding cast and brilliant story line this is one of the funniest, most life-affirming, quirkiest films I've ever seen. Couple that to a musical score penned by the genius that is Mark Knopfler I'd urge anyone that's not seen this work of art to watch it now. My favourite scene out of the entire film:

A world without oil? I'm sure we'd get by, it's the sort of film that allows you to put the things in your life into perspective which is probably what makes it for me :)

2) We also watched Contagion which I thought wasn't too bad. Was good to see Mr Damon in a role where he's not the protagonist and simply a member of "Joe Public". There was some pretty good performances from all the big names all round in this film and it is quite frightening to consider just how quickly something like this could spread. Let alone how many governments would attempt to cover it up in the interests of "public safety"

3) Also watched Senna recently - such a though provoking and moving film. And it just goes to show what a huge loss this man was to the sport. I've no doubt Schumacher wouldn't have enjoyed half of the fame he has now had Ayrton not been involved in that fateful accident in 1994. I'm a big F1 fan and can still remember vividly watching those harrowing images. RIP Aryton :(

Still to watch The Devils Double and Real Steel - will report back :D

Couldnt disagree more, yes the child actor wasnt great but in all honesty i cannot think of many movies involving children where they dont come across as annoying.

I am definitely sticking with my initial review and giving it an 8/10 ....it was good in the same way that the expendables was good, not because of the acting but because of the content.

Watched Cold Mountain the other night as it was on the iPlayer.

Hadn't seen it since it was first released so had forgotten much of it, had also forgotten just what a good film it is... even though it has Jude Law in it! :D

Tried giving Transformers: Dark of the moon another watch, i really want to like it as i love transformers, but its just so naff

Kill List
Started off ok, got slightly weird towards the end, although somewhat predictable.
Rather gratuitous violence too.

5/10
