Racist? Should Diane Abbott resign?

oh behave

Do you take any notice ?

For the 3rd time I do not find what she said offensive and have no problem with people supporting her right to say it but she shouldn't be so hypocritical, it would only be comparable to the Suarez incident if he has spent his career promoting himself as a bastion of equality and political correctness

It seems I've touched a nerve :D

I was replying to No1newts in the second instance.

I disagree sim.

She rears her head up and brings race into matters than do not need rave bringing into them such as the Labour leadership race. Her bizarre method of tackling or speaking out against racism seems to be via the medium of cloaked racism, hypocrisy and positive discrimination.

Racism and equality is a two way street and she should be treated exactly the same as any other who makes a disparaging comment about someone of another race. It's a fact that if that comment was white to black then the fallout would have been immense and Diane Abbot's comment was black to white, disparaging and she should be dealt with accordingly.

I totally agree with you VS. I think the comment was rather offensive. To suggest that whites still think in a colonialist fashion is stereotyping is all to be oppressive annoys me. I thought we've come further than this.

She said tactic AS old as colonialism. AS. She is saying that that's what white people are like now. Whether or not she meant it like that, her "explanation" doesn't wash at all so I think she probably did. I fail to see how her remark can be defended.

She should be sacked. However, the longer the argument goes on, the worse it gets for Labour so I'm not bothered. :D

She has made several racists comments. She is very racist. She should be sacked, labour have lost my vote until she has been sacked.

Are you being serious?

Her comments were racial yes. Does this make her racist........ Hmmmmmm Perhaps no more racist that those who promote positive discrimination.

So you wouldn't class somebody who discriminates against somebody based solely on the colour of their skin as racist?

Hypocrite!

yet again anti white racism is ignored, if this was an MP saying derogatory remarks about black people they would have been fired.

LOL @ the BBC's coverage.

HOW THIS IS NOT THE FIRST TIME ABBOTT HAS LANDED IN HOT WATER

Today's Twitter storm is the latest in a number of blunders made by the MP who positioned herself as an anti-racism campaigner, once claiming that Britain had 'invented racism'.

In 2010 Abbott called David Cameron and Nick Clegg 'two posh white boys', sparking claims of racism on the BBC's internet message boards. One wrote: 'I am sure that if a posh white person sat on this programme and mentioned a colour comment like that, there would be uproar.'

The same year, she was criticised over remarks she made on BBC's This Week over her decision to send her son James to a private school. Andrew Neil quoted her saying that 'West Indian mums will go to the wall for their children'.

Mr Neil responded by asking: 'So black mums love their kids more than white mums, do they?'

Furious Abbott said: 'I have said everything I am going to say about where I send my son to school.'

Previously, Abbott face accusations of racism suggesting that the 'blonde blue-eyed Finnish girls' working in her local hospital were unsuitable as nurses because they had 'never met a black person before'.

Abbott has positioned herself as an anti-racism campaigner and once claimed that Britain had 'invented racism'.

Is this someone who you would want as a MP or even PM as she was mentioned as Labour leader? I hope her career is now in terminal decline.

See now this is where things become difficult.

I agree with the way the media behaves her racial comments were not helpful. Why did colour have to be mentioned.... Why did she think she'd be able to say such a thing without there being some sort of backlash.

I'll get back to you on previous comments. I need to eat lol

She seems to be a fairly repugnant woman in general so she would be no great loss to anything.

I disagree, watching her on the politics show and so forth she can raise valid points from time to time and do so in a good humour. She's certainly no better or worse than the rest of them. At least she has personality.

Her comment there? Hardly the most wise it has to be said.

Yes positive discrimination lol. Would you not agree that this sort of policy is "racist"?

And I agree. I think its wrong to force integration. You cant force people to like one another... They either do or don't.

Simple

Same can be said of Nick Griffin.
