Asus z68 v pro Broken cpu pin repair?

specops, your board arrived today, looks good condtition but wont know anything until i test it(email me your postage costs),bad news on socket repair it will cost £70 to fix + the cost of the board £45 which is £115 total,so i emailed back saying if they can fix for £50 then ill have it repaired which will be £95 total, atleast ill have a working board and something sellable, just waiting on cpu now which should be here in next 3-4 days i hope

still no reply whatsoever with asus, just goes to show how much they care about there customers once theyve sold you a mb

Have this one on me , postage was only cheap , i just hope it works for you
anyway good luck

thanks for all your help, was really good of you to help me out,i hope it works but if not i might use some pins for repair,i need to think about getting asus repaired or not

just an update on repair, just got email back saying they will repair for £50 inc postage,so i will probably go ahead and send the board off,ill let you know how it goes,

I'm gonna post it at the end if that's ok,once I've tested the repair ect,ill email you the details if you like,I've just looked at the socket of the asrock,I don't know if you noticed and its not visible in the pic above but I spotted one pin hooked under the next pin to it,it was easy to tease it back into place though, just thought id mention it,and really grateful for the board

just an update, cpu arrived this morning, and specops your board is dead as a dodo, fans spin up but no lights,no dr.debug clock nothing, but guess what!!!

popped the cpu in the asus and voila booted straight up,tested ram slots and the broken pin appears to have knocked out the second black ram slot,no ram will work or pc wont boot if plugged into that slot but all i need now is 2 4gb sticks for 8gb of ram in the blue slots and im away

currently typing from the asus,so i dont know whether to have it fixed now or just settle for 8gb of ram max

had a play around and 4.3ghz was an easy target, still have intel heatsink on and temps didnt go above 72c

so an intel 2600k = £199 (new/sealed)

and asus z68 v pro =£45 (used and broken)

total = £244 not bad for a system upgrade

Not bad at all, You've been VERY lucky, but have a pat on the back for being determined enough and pulling it off, well done :)

Edit: also which slot doesn't work 1 2 3 or 4? If its 1 or 3 then you've been even luckier as Asus recommend just using 2 and 4 for a 2 stick setup.

No idea without looking but its second black ram slot from CPU socket,I have been lucky yeah, still have the option of a £50 socket replacement but I need to give it some thought now,you can deff see the difference between sb and nehalem temps

Just looked at the pdf looks like AH 33 is GND
Page 101 12th one up from bottom left side.

The pictures decieving though, you have to look at it side on,you can see the black line that runs across the socket on one of the pics, ill post screenshot when I get time, there was one broke off pin and the next pin to the left was broke off at the very tip,all all I can tell is that the second ram slot isn't working, but need to test further

oh well , just bin it i have no use for it , glad to here the Asus board fired up for you , on the memory side you can now get single 8 gig sticks if you needed more ram ,anyway im glad your up and running

yeah its a shame really cos visually the boards perfect,i wonder whats up with it? strange the debug clock doesnt light up

and yeah i wish all the ram slots worked cos i could have used 8gb of my old ocz ram,but i can only use 4gb atm cos its in 2gb sticks

let it run overnight and no crashes, also goes into sleep s3 and resumes perfect, just cant really stress test it atm until i find time to fit my better cooler

just a late update, plopped in 4 sticks of 2gb ocz ram and detected worked fine so now im wondering what the mising pin is for? second pin that was broke off at the tip might be making contact now that 8gb or ram is working, still waiting on replacement 1155 socket to arrive, dont know whether to leave as is or have fixed

Hi, I have been reading this thread. The link is missing for the company that has said that it will make a replacement for LGA1155 socket. Also where did you order spare socket ? Thanks

ohh god this is an old thread,it was off fleabay the spare socket 1155 socket from china a I think

I only found one place who were wiling to solder it on and I think they went into liquidation as I couldn't contact them again

luckily the board worked fine and still going strong currently at 4.8ghz

and yh that will work 331069259272:D

EDIT: I do think its such a waste of a board when manufacturers wont fix a broken cpu socket
